These easily upgradeable to 2Gb ram?

Yep very easy - although you can't add an extra stick, you have to replace ithe 1GB stick with a single 2GB stick. I got mine from Crucial

http://www.crucial.com/uk/store/mpartspecs.aspx?mtbpoid=C5F0F831A5CA7304

However, RAM prices are very high at the moment (think I paid £20 for the above stick in the summer!) so probably worth waiting, and the NC10 does most things fine with 1GB

LOL - that was my dilema too

Went and had a play yesterday at the local Comet store.

- NB200-11L : No bluetooth, but up to 9 hour battery

- NC10: Higher res camera, Bluetooth, but only up to 7 hour battery

Everything else looked to be identical, including size/weight and build quality. I could probably be happy with either.

What swung it for me was design. The Tosh has a "pinstriped" black cover which I didnt like, and its front logo is too big.

This version of the sammy is nicer that its N130 cousin - it has some silver tramlines down the edges, has a solid feel to it, and has a simple glossy back with neat logo.

Sure you didnt see the N130? Also available online at Comet for £219.

Similar spec but felt rubbery/cheap.

The Cardiff comet did have a Nc10 and priced at £249 and it was a 6 cell. Its out of stock on comets website.

If you truly saw an NC10 for £219 go and buy it. Now :)

How do these compare to the Dell Mini 10v's that were in the outlet for £183 a few days ago, even if they only had a 3 cell battery are these worth the extra £40.

I've sent mine about 3 weeks ago and have heard nothing. Did you get any emails that confirms they received cashback form as i got nothing?

I got the NC10 for around the £209 mark with cashback etc when dixons had the price for £236
#16

I'm in the market for a notebook as soon as. I'm planning to go for the Samsung N130. This only really has bluetooth over that, but I've heard good things about it. Want a white one though.

Agree - there were Samsung NC10 Netbooks that came bundled with a three cell battery rather than a six cell battery.

Cheers, Scotty Boy!

Try to follow this guide on SammyNetbook:

Have to say, I got the NC10 (6-cell) near launch and it always had ~5 hours using the above settings. Perhaps it's the constantly clicking hard drive, I don't really know but it proved it's worth on many occasions.

Problem is, it's a present for my daughter and it doesn't seem the same if she hasn't got it on the day.

I've just read a review that states it doesn't have a Word programme on it, is this correct can anyone confirm please?

Just download Open Office - its Word application is compatible with Microsoft Office.

Word or Office do not come with computers generally unless they are trials or you buy them as an extra. As the guy above me said, download open office from Here, it does the same thing and is free.
#28
Thanks for the sammynet ref.
it says 5,900mAh on the bat which i thought was 6 cell.

Found this on Western Digital if anyone wanted a free version of Acronis for backup

I read that a lot but in reality there are all kinds of problems that arise when converting back and forth between open office and microsoft office. I've been using open office on my netbook because it didn't come with Microsoft Office and its caught me out a number of times before deadlines, with me thinking I can easily convert it to Microsoft Office only to find the conversion has changed stuff. Only this week I prepared a powerpoint presentation, when I converted it back and forth between Office and OpenOffice all the colour design had gone, the text was a different size, and it was all out of shape.

Lots of people will tell you to use Open Office because its free, but my opinion is that you need Microsoft Office because its a College/University standard.

Fantastic little laptop!! When i first bought mine it lasted roughly 6 hrs, brightness down a bit and bluetooth off - just general surfing etc nothing to intensive. IMO its 1 of the best netbooks to get.

if i'm not in a rush for one of these things, d'you reckon i'll get one cheaper at the other side of December?

Does anyone know which Netbooks have a sim card slot as standard?

Ive got the Advent 4213 which has a sim modem built in and i think that the Dell mini has one too. The Advent works like a dream, easy to increase memory and even runs Mac OS !!

Pill :)

Help, unable to get comp5 code to work, anyone know if it is still valid?
#34
Have just tried this again and COMP5 works for me. For some reason though, you can only use it for home delivery. Believe this code expires on 16th Dec.
#35
Thanks, have changer to delivery.
#36
£249.99 at Dixons if you miss the voucher date, Currys won't match it though, Ive asked.
TCB 3.5% on Currys and 3% on Dixons.

Mine's arrived today, can someone tell me how I know it's def. the 6 cell?, heard somewhere that Arogs have been mis-selling these.
#37
Thanks. I'll go and check.
#38
Buy one you will not be dissappointed
Typing on one now - brilliant little piece of kit.

Build quality is excellent and for this money a better deal than the N130 sammies for a few quid less.

Hi

Placed an order a few hours ago but still no order confirmation email.
Is it normal for thisstore to take so long to confirm an order?

Most stores send almost instant order verification.
