might want to add shop name to title, not a bad price though

Was in Currys One Stop Perry Barr today. Nothing priced like that for that model. Maybe a regional thing or a one off.

Thanks for proof.

Prices ending in .97 tend to be clearance lines, but I thought this was a current model ??
#8
U sure this is not a error as I saw the 320gb £49 on a promo shelf next to the 500gb??
#9
receipt does say 500gb

This is probably last years model. There might be one or two kicking around in some stores but you'll be lucky to find any. Ring up and quote the SKU code off the receipt to check.

You could well be right. The packaging is a green card board box with the drive displayed in a transparent blister pack on the right. IIRC this was different to the packaging of the ones in the storage section of the shop, which I think were just a basic box with no plastic display section. Not sure if there's any actual difference apart from packaging

Like I mentioned they also had a 1TB next to these priced at £x.97. There are several other recent Currys deals for external drives, prices ending 97p. I actually went in to look for the 320GB one in another deal, but it wasn't there. Check the display cupboards under the laptops as well as actual external drive section of the shop, if interested.

They are very different animals. The version you bought looks like last year's model. These are the following differences:

Last year - mini usb connection...........................This year - micro usb connection
Last year - standard sata drive inside.................This year - usb connector soldered onto drive inside
Last year - full 2.5" sata sized housing................This year - smaller and thinner housing
Last year - software on drive...............................This year - software on virtual cd fixed by firmware.

would love to actually get one at this price but in the year or so I've used this site, not one 'in-store' deal has panned out.

[Excluding frijj milkshakes]

Good find OP and thanks for posting - I'm off to check out a couple of stores to see if I can find one.

Cheers, Scotty Boy!

This looks like a great price. Are all DSG (Curry's/Dixons/PC World) prices reduced to £x.97 to identify discontinued stock?

Yeah, the usual way to tell. Just been told by a that if it end in £X.X7 it's a clearance line. Doesn't need to be X.97

Just a shame they don't put them on the website as well...
Just tried the big store in Avonmeads (Bristol), not a one ;-) that might save someone a trip. . .
