Take on the role of a fearless mountaineer as you climb the Himalayas on a quest to find your lost brother and discover ancient secrets of the Tibetan Monks. Battle extreme and hazardous conditions as you come face to face with an evil hidden deep in the icy glaciers. Use your Wii controller to perform gestures and release the cursed spirits stuck in limbo. Do you have what it takes to survive the horrors that wait in the shadows?

* Set in the 1980's without the security of GPS or mobile phones, only the most intrepid climbers dared take on the Himalayas.
* Use the Wii controller to release the cursed spirits trapped in limbo.
* As players climb higher, the mountain itself becomes an enemy. Altitude sickness and oxygen deprivation, players may not be able to tell the difference between real enemies and hallucinations.
* Graphics so good you will be jumping off your sofa in terror!

I just finished Cursed Mountain last night. It's a great game in my opinion - very different to what you may be used to. It's not shockingly scary as the TV adverts suggest, but it's atmospheric and unsettling, great sound, nicely styled cut scenes, very interesting (and educational!) buddhist context, and the ghost battles are great fun (bosses a bit easy though). The main complaints in all the reviews I have read are
(1) slow story line - yes, it is slow and deliberate, you are climbing a very high mountain in the Himilayas, it's cold and disorienting and the game puts that across beautifully
(2) poor graphics - yes, we are talking the Wii here, not an Xbox, so graphics may feel a bit "last gen" but the style of the game uses this to good effect rather than being hampered by it
(3) poor controls - a lot of what you do for the "finishing moves" in your ghost fights involve moving the controller and nunchuck in different ways and there is one move that you have to do (a lot) with both that doesn't seem to register with the Wii a lot of the time, meaning basically that you dont finish the ghost and this is often fatal. I was having the same problem until about 2/3 of the way through when I realised that I was just doing it wrong - the onscreen graphic seems to be telling you to do one thing, but really you have to do something else. It was an online forum that let me in on that little secret and afterwards I had no problems at all.

Anyway, long story short, it's a great game for an EXCELLENT price if you like brooding and moody. Just dont expect a fast paced run and gun monster shooter.

What TV adverts? I didn't see any. That's the problem with 3rd party Wii games. They complain about low sales but I never seem to see any being advertised. Not core games like this anyway. How long would you say the game is? For under a tenner you can't really go wrong.

Remember seeing the advert for this on TV and thinking it was a good game.

Problem is that I also have an Xbox and treat that as my main gaming console; with the Wii being entertainment when mates and family are round etc. With this plan in mind, I never by any decent role playing games as I prefer to be blown away by superior graphics and decent plot.

Very tempted though... Heat added!

There were adverts last autumn where you saw people sitting in the dark (night vision camera used) playing the game with the tag "these are real people, not actors" or something like that, and they saw something scary and jumped or screamed. There is one moment very early on before you actually start fighting any ghosts where something flashes up that makes you jump (did for me anyway) so I guess that's what the commercial was showing. Anyway it worked for me - the game went on my xmas list!!

I cant really say how long it is because my schedule means I can only play in bits and so games take me ages to complete. Perhaps 5 or 6 hours in one go (just a guess though!)
