I recently applied for this when they were giving PC fans, The first time they mentioned that I did not put the promotion code correctly even though I used the right link so had to cancel and do it again. Second time they said they have unfortunately run out of stock so I will not get one (;
This offer has been going for years, they also do loads of other mags with this tool kit,
Alright for a quid :) cheers

Whats the toolkit like?

Perfectly adequate for most PC tasks and bits and pieces about the house. Three Torx adapters too (T10/15/20).

This won't get very hot because everyone on HUKDs is a PC expert and always know what the best kit is judging by all the comments on SSD deals etc, Hot from me because I have been a subscriber for many years.

I was a subscriber for a couple of years but when I realised I wasn't learning much from it, I cancelled. I'm not overly excited by modding, folding, out of date pricing and any hardware reviews in them are available online. I guess I'm not one of it's target readers!!
Got the tool kit already I want something else :(

Got this toolkit before use it quite a bit. It's not bad for a quid.

Done this a few times already and never any problems.

This deal is ALWAYS on via their website. Still a good one though.
Its a good magazine,I was subscribed for about a year,I then stopped as all the articles in it I had read on bit-tech,as they make the magazine(I think).I now just buy micro mart every week

Same offer with PC Pro. I prefer the magazine.

Can't find any way to fault this deal... no metter how crappy is the tool-kit, for 1 pound is still excellent value.
The tool kit is a piece of crap, the mag is ok tho..

Out of interest, why do people think it is crap toolkit? A screw driver is a screw driver after all and this has the perfect selection of items for dismantling my PC. (Genuine question....I am not having a dig at your opinion)

Screwdrivers (phillips) wear easily and the pliers need oiling, box cracks easy ... but they are free with the mag. You really shouldn't be bothered about the kit, the mag is the deal, and its a very good one.
Crap toolkit but I have received one every time I have ised this offer (4 times). The toolkit is fine for what it is and besides that atual deal is 3 copies of this execellent magazine for £1.

The offer runs all the time from bit-tech.net.

Voted hot.

The Amazon picture shows the same tool kit, but it is inferior. Amazon supply a Black cased Rolson kit, which is not as good as the one in the picture. I got mine from Maplins several years ago for £4.99 bye one get one free. It's useful for what it is :D

If you get calls included in your package you can try 01795 592 917 which is Dennis publishings number. May not work but worth a call if it costs you nothing.

The other offer around for PC Pro at the moment is 3 copies for £1.

It's a very good mag I've subscribed on and off for a few years and really easy to cancel before the three issues are up if you just want the deal.

Use this link and get a free NOCTUA NF-S12B FLX 120MM FAN i have done it twice im waiting for one now but you better be quick or they will shut it down for abuse. This fan is nearly £20 qnd is one of the best fans you can get. No scum bags nicking my deal either,

Code is C1104A
heres the link.

I got the tool kit replaced with the fan too, and I receieved the exact same emails posted in the last few posts so they obviously using templates, maybe they've had a few complaints lol. I agree it did say subject to availability, but to be confirmed that you'll get the fan and then they send a tool box is a PITA. Anyway, now I'm in the process of cancelling, cancelled my direct debit and sent them an email. Just receieved my £25 Redken Shampoo/Conditioner, body wash and hair wax from £3 GQ magazine... might as well get in there before they clamp down on it :p

Dear Me,

Thank you for your recent email reply.

We can confirm that we have spoken to the publisher and they have been able to speak to the supplier who have been able send out NOCTUA NF-S12B FLX 120MM FAN this was labelled on 20th May 2011 and we ask that you allow 28 days from this date for delivery.

If we can be of any further assistance please do not hesitate to contact us.

Complaining worked! I told them about the toolkit costing only 69p from that shop, and asked them to explain how a 69p toolkit is worth the same as a £15 fan and so they're sending me out a fan! They didn't ask for the cheapo toolkit back either lol so woo!

No way...I said send my fan and pick up your 69p tool kit or cancel my subscription and they cancelled my subscription!

Thank you for your email regarding Custom PC.

Unfortunately we do not have any stock available for the fan to be sent to you.

The toolkit has been sent out to you as an alternative.

We do try to send out the gift requested by our customer however this is stated in the terms and conditions on both the website and the magazines.

If we can be of any further assistance please do not hesitate to contact us.

Kind Regards

From website:
Free gifts are subject to availability and may be substituted with a gift of equal or greater value. Please allow 28 days for delivery.

How this tool kit is of equal or greater value than the fan I do not know. I will also be cancelling. I did actually want a subscription and took this one because of the offer. A lost subscriber from their poor customer service.

Tool kit for 69p!

oh and they are very biased towards the companys that give them enough freebies. imo
I used to get this, it WAS a great mag, just keeps getting thinner and thinner and more adverts, none of the goodstuff it used to have,
It was cheaper and with more stuff.
The deal is good ( I grabbed it about 2 years ago) , but I would want to pay less than half of face value before I bothered again, only worth getting if you subscribe.

It's not a duplicate post... it's the same one you saw last week but somehow only got hot now.

Nope....it's this one they're referring to.

These deals have been around for as long as I can remember, it's merely the free tat that varies.

Not always 'tat' mate:

NOCTUA ftw

Shima

My bad. Change that to 'usual tat'.

Even more reason to vote this repeat post cold. :|
profet

There was an editorial in PC Pro a while back about producing a no-disk issue. The research they did indicated that no one would buy it though.
Tbh, I'm not sure the DVD adds that much to the cost of manufacture - but it is a great excuse to bump up the cover price.

That's because they didn't mention the price when they did the poll. If its the same price then you're getting less for the same price. There was a £1 or more price difference between the CD and DVD edition. Logic would dictate that the no disc edition would be cheaper than the CD edition and this would encourage more people to subscribe on an annual basis.

I think that £20 every 6 months is the max that the magazine can really charge. £25 puts it at over £4 / issue. I know some people say there isn't much in it. True if that's the only thing you buy in life, but when you buy lots of other things including other magazine subscriptions and the fact that you throw away a DVD every time PC Pro comes through the door and the fact that you used to subscribe to the cheaper CD edition, its much better to take out the 3 for £1 plus free gift every now and then.

How easy is it to cancel? anyone subscribed before and cancelled?

It's easy to cancel the DD. You can just cancel with your bank if you want. That is all that is needed. If banknig online you can cancel on line.
I tend to be nice and also cancel the subscription with the publisher too. That way they don't get a suprise when they try to take the money and get a rejection. :-D

Sorry I was trying to make it easier so used the link to take out the offer. However if you go to the main page for Custom PC the offer is mentioned there. I've pasted it here. http://www.custompc.co.uk/

I've also updated the link to take away any confusion.

I got an e-mail stating that:

First issue due: 21st January 2010
1st Direct Debit to be taken: 22nd January 2010
Amount to be taken by Dennis Publishing Ltd: GBP 1.00 for 3 issues
Subsequent payments of GBP 15.99 every 6 issues
26 PIECE TOOLKIT 6 jif

So I will be cancelling after 22nd January 2010.

Ditto - although the first payment date got changed to the 25th after that, for some reason.
Nevertheless, between the 21st and 29th of January i'd received the first magazine, had the £1 direct debit taken out, canceled the subsequent payments from the direct debit, and the toolkit then turn up, so no complaints here! :-D
