Cycling gear @ Aldi from 6th May £1.99

Year in year out these are always fantastic deals whether you are a pro cyclist or just someone who throws a supermarket mtb around every summer.

I can readily vouch for the quality of all the gear with things like the gloves, jackets and glasses a fraction of the price you'd pay elsewhere for comparable quality. I've been commuting 18 miles a day for the bulk of the last 4 years and the stuff lasts.

Sports glasses 3.99
Cycling jacket 9.99
cycling shirt 6.99
cycling shorts 6.99
cycling gloves 2.99
triathlon suit 14.99
and others.........

I'm still using the gloves I picked up last year! Cheapest you find for this quality
#3
My local one has it all in now, I noticed gloves and various other bits and bobs when I was in there yesterday (Liverpool)
#4
Can see myself spending quite a lot next week... equipping myself for the summer!!
#5
Anyone know if there's an Aldi in Northern Ireland?

My reviews having bought some of this gear last year and the year before......

Socks - 10/10 tough little things slightly on the small size, barely worn despite being worn almost every day, I got two pairs and don't need new ones.

Cycling shorts - 10/10 tough well made with a padded rear worn regularly with little signs of wear.

Cycle tool bag - 7/10 cheap and cheerful, ok for the price

Track Bike Pump - 9/10 fantastic value, alloy pressure tube, let down by a crazy inaccurate psi gauge. Keep it warm in winter as the plastic air tube cracked when I bent it straight at -3 to put air in my tyres, can't get it above 90psi. For £5 it's still a bargain.

Sports Glasses - 10/10 still wearing them from 2yrs ago, I may replace as mud and grime have scratched the lenses. Swappable lenses stay solidly in place.

Bicycle Computer - 7/10 stopped using it last year when I got proper GPS but it worked well and if it's the wireless one it is great value.

Bike Lock - 2/10 cheap, not very tough or I suspect strong.

Cycling Gloves - 5/10 cheap, thin, sizes are all on the small size, ok for leisure riding.

Swim Pants - 10/10 wear them on every ride, get some funny looks.

I think this is great stuff - the socks and shorts are very good quality and an excellent price.
I would also recommend the walking and runing things they have in some Aldis. The running socks are very comfortable and the walking socks are double layer with cotton lining - for £2.99 a pair!
Great value for excellent products.

Thanks!

Anyone know what comes with the tool bag?

Lidls are selling a load of bike stuff at the moment too. Looks like similar stuff!

Doubt it. They do have some other outdoor stuff from an earlier specials offer though.
#15
I have purchased the Lidl and Aldi stuff for the past year and I have found the Aldi clothes to be far better than the Lidl clothes.

I hope it's the same stuff again this year from Aldi from the same supplier.

well, obv its not a camelbak, but works for me

ive bought stuff previously from lidl, fingerless gloves are great, superb padding, jacket is really good too. Went to look at Lidl's full finger gloves they currently have on promotion, but didnt fit too well and padding wasnt up to my standards. Will defo look at aldi's gloves as mine are starting to wear out (after about 3 years wear)

some good stuff again!

just hope that when i get there theres some left! always seems to be the problem with aldi/lidl/netto deals.

got a chain cleaning kit in Lidl today to try out (£4) - the cheapest elsewhere is three times the price.

Will be getting the pump from Aldi since it looks like v. good value. Bike computer looks like great value but I already have one. The clothing doesn't look very attractive :/, but I will check it out.

Not many pockets for tools etc though. I got the Rogue for £12.50 in the last sale and have to say it is blinding.

I had one of these(like you just bought another from Lidl, it's made by barbieri ) but it wears out quite quickly. I'll be taking mine back at some point for a refund, I have no doubt.

£8.99 at Tesco and also included in a '3 for 2' deal if you want other stuff there.

These Aldi/Lidl/Tesco deals show how ridiculously overpriced most bike shop stuff is. Still, if people think a fancy brand name makes them go faster...............

Anyone been yet? What is the gear like? I have to wait till lunchtime before I can go, I hope they have some stuff left!

Excellent stuff as usual. Not many sizes left in the High Street branch in Glasgow and that was at 9:30am!

I did buy alot though

Just got back with about £100 worth - two pairs of shorts, two pairs of t-shirts, two lots of the underwear sets, two lots of socks, lock, computer, bottle, jacket, light coat, gloves. Just need a bike now! :-D
#33
got a pump, lock (as an extra one in addition to my gold sold secure one - if the aldi one is used on its own, security would be low).

as a city cycler, the clothing is just ugly/screams 'cycler' for my tastes and is not good to walk about in but the fluorescent jacket looked good for visibility and was v. light and packable.

I picked up red seedless grapes when I was there as well - bargain at 69p for 500g.
#34
Virtually no Jackets apart from the lightweight hi-viz type ones at Gravesend branch. Plenty of everything else.
#35
Thanks for the post, I wouldn't have known about it otherwise, bought a few items today, shorts £6.99, gloves £2.99, seat bag £4.99 with inclusive tool kit items, and 2 waterbottles at £3.99 each, complete with bracket and a top for fizzy drinks. Cheers.
