Hi this is my first find so go easy on me...

(P&P is £5 for 10 days or 7.90 for 2-3 days)

A few days ago at PIXMANIA there was a D-Link DIR-655 router at a good price (£79.90) but it expired - i was gutted... Anyway i go on today and there it is at a reduced £10!!! I was going to get it anyway but this is a brilliant price for this router. It goes for £90 most other places new. It's the cheapest i've found while researching and it's a brilliant router with amazing features - it's a bit old but super fast, i would recommend it for an upgrade.

It's traditional to include the postage in the price.

Nice price. Anyone know how good it is? Would have preferred a black one but might just go for this... hmmm!!

Been looking for a new n router to upgrade to, completely lost as which one to buy, input this into ebay, seems like a pretty hot deal to me... Got used ones bid upto this price already with over a day left on them, your talking (at a glance) £110 delivered for the cheapest new one on there... If anybody knows a hotter deal for a very good n router, point me there please!

Does anybody know if it affects performance which modem you partner with this router? I was just wondering if I choose to buy this, would I also need to buy a modem too, I have a speed touch modem that my provider supplied years back, is this likely to be sufficient? Cheers for any help, only ever used combined modem/router's from netgear before.

Seems to be well spec'd, nice to have a 4 port gig switch as well.

Sorry about the link. I'm on my iPhone.

Yeah seen that, still a better router! :) Not exactly a deal though.

So confusing knowing what's best to upgrade to. Might just stick with my DG834GT for a bit & keep an eye out for a deal... Am I right in thinking that both the above mentioned routers can be used with both adsl and cable isp's?

In general, a router is a router. It's the modem that provides the Net connection, so any compatibility issues would lay there.

I use this -

Not cheap and also lacking the number of gig ports that the one mentioned here has but does Cable/ADSL and is very good.

Note that if your a gamer, it's a HUGE bonus because it has QoS so you can set your 360 for example, to top priority so that you get virtually no lag online even while downloading.

Qos will only affect your tx not rx, so it doesn't really help.

Qos when you only control one side of the link (ie home networks) is pretty much a waste of time.

Plus, pretty much any 15 quid router upwards will do this (pointless) qos.

Anyway....pixmania, enough said. Sorry op cold from me.

They're part of the Dixons group if that helps sway you one way or the other.

When they mess up, they really go to town but they don't often... just when they do (which is admittedly alot) people moan about it and they get a bad reputation that way. But when they don't mess up (more-than-not) they provide a quality service with a low price.

Go for it. I'll get mine on thursday or friday. I'll report back then yeah? Hopefully the deal will still be up and i'll tell you how it went. Post hot for the now anyway ;)

You can also use the £7 off £70 deal tip already posted on this site to get this for just over £70 delivered. I just added a mouse mat to my order to tip it over £70.

Note: if you're looking for an even cheaper item than the mousemat, you must pick something stocked by Pixmania themselves otherwise more postage costs are piled on. I was bored of searching so just went with the mousemat.
