what's the transfer rate?

@ lee_hom, check the original deal in the link above and there is a review page with all the tests on
#7
the test result can't be right, 217.3Mb for upload and 270.2 for download, that's even better than some £1000 cisco nas.

The problem is there is a limited amount of reviews out there for it - I suggest you look into further yourself and see what you can find for your fellow members, as I've provided links to those test results from the original deal thread (via Dabs).

Edit - Here's a post regarding

erm... you are saying u get 50 * 8 = 400 mbps throughput using laptop

but only around 24 * 8 = 192 mbps with desktop?

opps.. guess i wasn't being clear.
On laptop connected to NAS (directly linked w/o router).

Copy file from NAS to laptop = 400mbps
Write file from laptop to NAS = 200mbps

Here comes the weird part. After migrating data from my dns-323 to dns-320, I use RapidCRC to verify the files on the dns-320 (read file from NAS without copying to laptop).
1. I get about 220mbps verifying file in NAS, while playing a video file located on the laptop itself.
2. If i stop playing the file and the laptop is idling (except the RapidCRC running), the read-rate will drop to 80mbps, and in worst case 1.2mbps"

"Aiyo... how come got 2 threads.. so confusing.. can merge?

Anyway, finally found the time to set up the DNS-320.
Usually i get avg 18MB/s with DNS-323, now getting about 24.
Don't know how you guys get such high transfer rates... maybe because i don't use router. I connect the utp cable direct from laptop to the NAS"

"hmmm im using this hdd

Amazon has price matched by the look of it - agree, I prefer to deal with Amazon over eBuyer.

I have one of these I got for £70 from DABS. Not much to it, cheap plastic around a PCB but it does the job well.

just ordered one of these from Amazon at £69.99. Just in case the 323 models don't turn up.
I can always return it
