With latest firmware, can support up to 2 x 2TB SATA drives, can be used as a USB print server, torrent downloader and iTunes server. Also have a look at http://wiki.dns323.info/ for information on how to load custom software to expand capability!

Was gutted that I missed out on the last batch, so glad to have found this!

Slight Warning > if you get the C1 version which I believe you will most likely get, the Fan seems to stay on even after the disks power down when not in use, though I believe the a forthcoming new 1.10 firmware should fix it, yet to come out I believe.

by the way.

Does anyone know if this will work to DLNA to my Toshiba 37RV753 ? t.y

eliz - Good spot, but apparently a simple work around is to change to the fan to something other than Auto, apply it and then change it back. I'll have to have a play when I get it.

Gotta - Not sure. It does have U PnP AV which is apparently like DLNA, and I believe you can install Third Party software which would def do it - have a look at the Wiki I originally posted. If it doesn't work, you can always return in 7 days under the DSA.

Forum posts say it doesn't support but often works with DLNA, problem is i don't have a dongle to test with when I get so won't know untill return dates out.. oh well, guess i'll risk and buy :)

I am sure I tried this, but will double check tonight, I think loads of other people on the dlink forums have this problem too, so would be very happy if this works.. will update all.

I've been running one of these for few months (with 2x 2TB drives) and don't have this problem.

No 3tb hard drive support for this? Can anyone recommend any 2 bay (or more) nas enclosures that will work well with 3tb drives?

Its only if you have revision C1 I think.

Does this have any Pros over the NetGear Stora? I notice that ones dlna certified for extra £5

stupid question....

Are there any bright lights on this unit? I currently have a western digital my book world edition nas and the light is way too bright, it's situated in my bedroom so noise and light is a key factor. Thanks

I'm torn between this deal and this. The RAID capability is swaying me towards the Iomega, any opinions?
#12
What RAID capability do you want? According to the spec, this does RAID 0 and RAID 1. I had mine set up with 2 x 1Tb drives - 1.5Tb was mirrored as RAID 1 across the two drives and the other 500GB was JBOD, ie not mirrored.

There is a blue light on this - the power button (square at the bottom on the front) - can't be sure how bright it is since mine'e been retired and waiting to go on a certain auction site (when the prices pick up again (_;) )

word of warning. i've been waiting since last week when this was posted at 49.99 for new stock to arrive. estimated arrival was yesterday but now supposedly tomorrow. i have a feeling that it is going to come back as discontinued.

It does have very bright power/activity LEDs, defintiely will notice them in a dark room. There is an option in the settings to disable it, though.

These ship with 1.08 and it already supports 360/ps3 dnla

For the price it's the best nasaround. I paid around 200 3 /4 years ago for one of these. Was dual 500gb. Then dual 1gb now running dual 2tb

Not sure they will increase drive capacity but it's served me well.

Just spoke to one of the customer agents and he's told me that they are definitely getting this stock in, but the model is being discontinued so will be the last batch and is the reason for low price. I assume it will be replaced by the DNS-320?

I've got 2 of these babies already, each with 2 x 1TB and am getting another to put my Scan deal of 2 x Sammy 2TBs in = 8 TB plus my internal discs = 10 TB 8) great for a collection of Hi Def movies

Are you sure? It says SATA drives of any size - and I would expect that 3 TB is included in "any size" :-)

I am sure these needed a firmware upgrade for 2tb drives to work correctly

It's cheaper to buy more dns323's and drives than a more expensive nas unit and drives.
