Good few quid off several DAB radios at Argos. My own favourite is the Pure Evoke 2xt for £99. This is the streo version of the 1 xt with aux input, USB upgrades and chargepak compatible.

This is problaby becuase DAB v2 is due to come out, with the new CODECs to support lower bandwidth but higher quality broadcasts. Expect the current DAB broadcasts to last another 10 years from whatI have been reading.

I have not heard about that but it could be the reason for clearing them. Then again if an electrical gadget isn't out of date in 3 years I think myself lucky!

So what you are saying is that this DAB radio would be fine for the next 10 years if your prediction is true?

I would expect so - although I suspect broadcasters such as the BBC will continue to broadcast using the original CODECs for a while yet. Suspect the commercial stations will go to the new DAB+ CODECs sooner than later.

Have a look here: http://www.digitalradiotech.co.uk/dab/dab_vs_dab+.htm

Hope this helps.

A lot of the Pure DAB radios have a USB port for software upgrades (including the one in the OP). Would a software update allow for the new Codecs mentioned or is a hardware upgarde required. If it is just software there should be no worries as long as Pure are still around when the new system comes in.
