I'd love to know anyone else's experience with this, mine lasted about 48 hours before it no longer turns on, just appears totally dead (changed fuse and plug socket just in case).

Going to return to dabs and see how their return service experience is; delivery was good but communication in terms of stating if/when it was despatched wasn't existent.

Not sure whether to replace or refund as it did look aesthetically good (kept wife happy) and picture looked fantastic as well as network connectivity being good and responsive.

EDIT: Just logged on to dabs to see it was being despatched direct from their supplier so their website hasn't even updated to show despatched, and thus I can't start the returns process. Phonecall required Monday it seems.

Only if you have a good seating position for it or it's not good for the rest of the family! the bigger the better.
It is a gimmick, but I have got used to it and do quite like it.

The new Crucial BX200 is dog slow, the old BX100 was much faster. Sad times in the SSD world.

Having 100's of business Toshiba laptops with SSD's at work, the OCZ/Toshiba SSD's still have quality / realibility issues.
Not the fastest either (much better than a HDD of course). Personally, unless you are on a super tight budget, I would spend a little extra and get one of the faster and more realible ones. I use Samsung personally and we buy Samsung's to replace HDD in our older desktops and laptops that didn't have SSD's or where the OCZ / Toshiba one has failed.
Looking at 20 - 25% more but for me, the speed, realibility and extra capacity is worth it.
what's your view on crucial ? The samsung drives aren't compatible with my system! :(

Aren't compatible? Surely as long as they support SATA they will be fine? In regards to Crucial, I'm personally using a 128gb M4 in one of my media centers which is getting on for 3/4 years old now and still going strong. In my books, they are right up there with Samsung but I haven't purchased them in the hundreds like I have with Samsung and (sadly) OCZ's. There is a budget Crucial which is quite slow in comparison to other similar priced ones, the BX Range maybe? Try and stick to the MX Range. But as far as I'm aware, they both provide good reliability.

At the moment, I am only purchasing Samsung 850 Evo's as the price difference is fractional but the speed and reliability pay for themselves. I don't use the Pro versions as they are more designed for data intensive servers than business / consumer desktops and laptops.

Hope this helps,
Carson

For an SSD these are pretty poor quality had two and they both had weak sata ports, ontop of that the advertised speeds on box were not the actual speeds however at least the real speeds are in this post.
Real speeds have been advertised for ages. If this was 35 quid then it would be a bargain!
I am afraid to say I will never consider a Kinsgton drive again (just searched for active v300 threads to warn others): http://www.anandtech.com/show/7763/an-update-to-kingston-ssdnow-v300-a-switch-to-slower-micron-nand

Very important question, is that pc running Windows xp? or does it run Windows 7 or up? XP does not play nicely with ssds

I've got a Dell desktop purchased in 2008 that is running XP from this:

http://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/sandisk-ssd-plus-240-gb-sata-iii-2-5-inch-internal-ssd-up-520-mb-s-40-99-amazon-2361536?page=4#comments

with no issues at all, and if anything is a more astonishing improvement than to later windows due to the old snail pace boot up time with a HDD.

For now it is. SSDs use a command called trim to keep then running smoothly, a command that's absent from xp. So my understanding is the drive will get slower and slower with use.

Worth looking it up as I'm not 100% on what the effect may be.

Samsung have a tool you can download which gets trim working in xp but pretty sure will only work on their own drives.

I'm currently looking at a new TV for gaming. Can I ask why you have mentioned 'gaming' was this just because that's what you intend to do, or are you referring to it's specification? i.e. good input lag times. Do you know what the input lag time is for this model?

Nearly impossibly unless you buy used. It's a old socket now.

got to be more then that out there worth buying.

That's because that's the latest socket for the latest processor. Unfortunately we have to move on and manufactures won't continue making boards for a socket two generations out of date now

I also enjoy building PCs, but your built:
1. it has a inferior GPU which is ......used :{
2. lacks a Windows License,
3. lacks a 2nd HDD
4. lacks an optical disk drive
5. lacks a warranty
6. last, but not least, you have to make sure that every part/chipset works as it should, with the proper drivers installed etc.

Overall, i disagree with your point that this deal is horrible.

PS. I liked the Arctic Cooling i32 from your list of parts, I'll consider it on my next build :)

robodan918
Always better to build it yourself. Individual warranties per part (and longer warranties at that), you'll choose better quality components, and it will just work better. You'll likely save some money too.
Also, that case is atrocious
Update
Although I've just built a new vr capable pc for about 650 (specs below), this post inspired me to look for even newer skylake components, and I found them. Feel free to copy my parts list on your own builds - it's the result of weeks of planning and reviews read.
CPU Intel i7-4790 (4th gen, as 5th gen is crazy expensive and 6th gen performs worse except at the highest end) 170 from ebay new in oem packaging without heatsink
Arctic Cooling i32 cooler/heatsink with 2 fans 28 from amazon
GA-H97N-WIFI itx board 90 from amazon
8GB (2x 4GB Kingston DDR3-1600) 25 from amazon
Samsung 850 Evo 256GB SSD 63 from amazon
Antec Truepower classic 750W PSU 75 from ariapc
Antec ISK600 ITX case 30 from Amazon
Sapphire R9 290 Tri-X 170 from ebay (used)
and a bunch of extra fans to keep everything extra cool. The system idles below 30c and has pushed 45c in gaming on ultra high settings fallout, Aliens etc
Got Windows 10 free for being a student, but you can pick up a win7 license fit 10 and then upgrade to win10 free
Decided to go for skylake instead for m.2 slot for an ssd upgrade in the next 12 months, usb 3.1, and ddr4.
New cpu i7-6700 206 new in oem packaging from ebay
New motherboard Asus Z170i Pro from amazon 120
Assuming I can return the motherboard I already have and sell the cpu again for 170, which shouldn't be a problem, the cost difference will be around 50, bringing the pc cost to about 700.
If anyone is looking for a board+cpu+ram it looks like I'm selling haha! Or you can just buy the whole computer from me for the 650 I paid for it. Pm me
Overall my point is that this "deal" is horrible. kthxbai
persianrug
I built my own a couple of weeks ago for about £1.2k with the following specs:

I7-6700k
MSI M5 motherboard + CM V8 GTS cpu cooler
Cooler Master master Case Pro 5
16GB corsair vengeance 3000mhz ddr4 RAM
Gigabyte Windforce 980ti 6Gb OC extreme gaming
2x 120gb SSD Sandisk ultra II
Corsair 850w RMi series (gold)
Dvd-rw
Two corsair SP 140mm fans and various other things like Led strips.

This price is very average.

For a prebuilt rig its not bad though.
JTW8W
Is an i7 overkill? I thought i5 was good enough for all modern games

Yeah for gaming alone it is but for video editing, streaming games and other CPU intensive tasks it will help a reasonable amount.
hmmm being trying to price this up as matching seperates. Any idea what sort of price the thermaltake watercooling might be?

Hot for the price but can't really see the point. The Apple TV isn't like a phone. It doesn't get handled or dropped. It just gets plugged in once and left. Very hard to imagine needing a second year's warranty. If it failed within two years I'd be looking at redress under the SOGA anyway. This might be worth it for Appe TVs bought on eBay maybe, just maybe.
I was thinking of the same thing at first but the apple TV 4 siri remote is made of glass surface and applecare do cover if it breaks. The remote itself is about £79 each.
Good thinking. Ok, buying now..
When you purchase it could you let me know how many digits your redemption code is? I got a code off of ebay and it doesn't seem to be working. I wonder if it's for our region. Not that these things are region locked but still wanted to make sure.

Hi, finally got my applecare after a long waiting for it. Hope you still waiting for my answer. It is a 15 digits numbers.

Ok I will let you know once I got it.

The free adapter is an Asus N300 2.4Ghz 300Mbps link rate low-profile pci-e card
If that's useful to you, then this is a deal.
H81M is a 2 year old chipset for Haswell cpus - nothing wrong with that.
supported cpus listed here ...
