I'd vote absolute zero if I could.

FYI the majority of television viewers arent into HD or games either. But they're snapping up LCD televisions because a CRT is a big, hideous, flickering box that takes up far too much space.

Actually, this is a wind up, isnt it.

I had this TV and sold it for £100 about a year ago. Only paid about £200 for it 2 years ago in the Jan sales so this aint a great price.

It's no wind up. LCD will never reach CRT quality, same for monitors. This is why tv studios and graphic designers use CRT and not LCD. I agree with the size though but CRT cost less than half the electricity of LCD tv's.
#6
I I thought LCD used LESS electricity than CRT. The piccy from my Sony LCD TV blows a CRT picture into a cocked hat.

This means the industry has made a good job of hiding the facts about electricity use.

But it`s got a better picture than ANY LCD/PLASMA you may own.

no way dude, i've had them all and tbh my current 50" plasma has a good a picture as any of the top range crts had, have to agree about lcd's though
it really is all down to your own eyes.
At this price its not a good deal, and the comment about 28crt=26lcd wth does that mean?
lcds and plasma's are full screen views so any crt at same size has LESS viewing area,
wth did this guy get his info?
#11
Madmanc,

Maybe so, but technical performance and appreciation sells very little these days. If we were all so discerning, the world wouldnt be flooded with iPods and we'd all be huddled round Linn turntables nodding our heads in pious appreciation.

Anyway get some reality, this is a Daewoo CRT. A Daewoo. Some old Panasonic CRTs are very, very good, but this is no Grade 1 Sony Broadcast monitor is it.
#12
Don't know about the quality of image (IQ) on this set, but I still can't justify ditching my 28" Panasonic CRT set for LCD or plasma. The fact is that broadcast TV (Freeview) looks 100x better on my set than on any LCD/plasma I've ever seen. DVDs and kids' Xbox look great too, albeit not quite as good as on a good LCD/Pl. As long as most of our viewing is Freeview, for me a good CRT is still the one to beat for IQ.

Power consumption? My set's rated at 90W. Yes, it's big and bulky and it sits in a corner (as, I suspect, do many LCDs).

Anyone arguing the "picture quality" of a CRT needs to go back to special school.

Its a matter of pixels. A CRT has only the standard def array of resolution to display. Meaning the picture will always be sized properly. No ugliness.

On an HD LCD or Plasma, pixels are resized, as the set of the resolution is higher.

I own both a samsung 32" HD LCD, and a 28" JVC CRT set. Like a non-thick person, I use quality connections and HD consoles with my LCD. And with my CRT, I use older games consoles, like the PS2 and further back.

Neither type of set wins outright, but at £180 for a CRT, you would literally have to be brain-damaged. PEOPLE ARE LITERALLY GIVING THESE AWAY ON GUMTREE AND FREECYCLE.

Still can't get over you OP. £180 for a set that causes headaches, radiation, consumes power like a fat kid does crisps and IS A RELIC OF THE PAST... you're just... Ah I give up.

is there actually any evidence at all this is true?
i still use a 32 inch toshiba crt and i have not seen a lcd that even comes close to it picture quality wise

Where do you get these figures from? CRT TVs use a little less than LCDs (due to backlighting in LCDs) but not half as much!!!

Panasonic or Pioneer Plasmas will be the same or very close, LCDs have a long way to go

Putting the 'LCD/Plasma vs CRT' debate aside, £190 for a 28" CRT currently is NOT a Hot deal!!!!!!!!!!

LOL

Posting this up on Hot Deals will always get a COLD vote as there are to many people into technology who are typing away at high spec'ed PC's who have big LCD or Plasma TV's and ill come to my point in another post.

There is very much still a market for these CRT TV's and my sales team never have a problem selling them.

These are actaully very good TV's bar a problem with syncing which has now been fixed and was never a big a problem as people made out. Picture & sound quality beat the JVC's no problem only advantage the JVC's have are 3 scart connectors.

I have sold over 450 of these TV's (Over double the JVC's I sell) in the last year along same as my top LCD and more than my top plasma and the reason why people buy these

They dont want an LCD
They dont want a PLASMA
They dont have HD
They dont have Blu-Ray
They dont have Digital (though they have it ready with this TV)
They probably dont want or have Sky or Cable
They are after a good basic TV that will last them not everyone wants or needs the best things

These are great for families who have small kids, who wants a two year old wacking the **** out of you £500 TV, I had a customer come in wanting the facia for his Toshiba TV he brough off us because his 3 year old was helping cleaning and used a dish scourer and scatched the whole surround, cost him £144 to replace it and get it fitted.

People still feel LCD & Plasma's havent matured, nor digital TV to that fact and find it all simply expensive and more prone to failure, Sony Bravia's have an appauling failure rate.

My sales guys never have a problem selling CRT's still, especially this model (which isnt to big tbh). I dont stock as many now because they just isnt the qty around any more.

Sometimes I laugh so much at how people are suckered into all this technology, more fool them as it makes me money. Amount of people that buy HD TV's that havent got any HD connection or player are just waisting their money for the Kudos because of some nice advert or to follow the pied piper, sorry Neighbours and Friends.

Hot Deal !! if this is what you are after.

Yep they are cheap and chearful and thats what you get with the name you know its not going to be quality , cheap is the word but as in the price, I do sell them for a fiver more though.

Under waranty 32 of 452 have come back faulty for a direct replacement.(amazingly only "1" broken power switch) the JVC set 31 of 254 have come back but these get repaired. The guys that repair them say the JVC are not much kop inside either and they generate considerable more heat cus of the poor components used.

Just had my IT guy ring up saying ive crashed the day end figure's looking this up OOPS!

Ive had another 14 of the Daewoo's back through trade in's from customers who have gone on to purchase LCD/Plasma's, buy back & collect @ £45 resell for £105 and they are snapped up.

Not had any customers complain about them though thought we would with the freeview but they do seem to work well.

Daewoo actually had a really good set slimline CRT they were going to release, similar to the Samsung one's but they didnt bother in the end, this was bloody good tele as well and they decided not to make them in the end after I ordered loads.
