It is a good price if you HAVE to pay full price. Ask your employer if they have the tax free bike purchase scheme. I have owned a Vitesse and wasn't that impressed with it. If you think you may only get occasional use from a bike, go for a cheaper one - http://www.westerntowing.co.uk/acatalog/Folding_Cycles.html

I'm a big advocate of Dahon. I had a Cadenza 2007 for a couple of years (nicked in the end) and it was great. Good components and a smooth ride. I agree with matedodgy above ^ that if your work can get you the cycle to work scheme, do that. Otherwise buy this - hot!

I bought from this crowd before ,theyv'e got a bad reputation ;for me they took the money straight away & after it took amost 9 frustrating weeks & numerous calls to get my hands on the bike; also the tube they used on the inside tyre which you dont see at 1st was some cheap brand that just came apart ;where it was joined was really bad all way round ,I wont ever buy of them again

Oh no....I hope that this does not happen to me, I am waiting to receive it. Ordered it this week. How long ago was it that you bought it? Did they resolve the issue for you?

Please can I ask how your bikes got stolen? I have never owned a bike before but thought that a folding bike would be less likely to get stolen as you could have them with you all of the time. Did someone rob it off you or something?

I really want a Brompton as they look so cool but I don't have the funds at present. I have bought the Dahon so I can get used to cycling first.

I am self employed so I guess I can not take part in the tax free purchase scheme.....is there a way around it?

If you pay yourself a salary, then yes, you can do it.
If your accountant's worth his pay then he'll know how to do it. i know of some shops that will arrange this for you and, because they're not going through a third party admin company like cyclescheme.co.uk, they can offer a discount to the company purchasing the bike.

Drop me a PM if you'd like me to send you more details.

Additionally, don't worry about not having the funds for a Brompton, they're not worth the extra.

To be fair to J E James, they don't put the tubes in, Dahon do!
