Jon over on Dealspwn has spotted an excellent price on Darkstar One: Broken Alliance for the Xbox 360. You can pre-order it from The Hut for only £17.93. The next best online price I can see for this game is £25.95 @ Zavvi!!!

Great price from The Hut!

In his recent review, he gave this game a score of 8/10. I'll post some review links in the next comment here.

It sounds pretty good. Not the kind of game I'd usually play but I think I'll give it a try at that price as that's a really good deal for a brand new game - voted hot.

I like to think im pretty up on games, i even watched E3 live last week but i have NEVER heard of this game!

The main problem with this game is that every system is identical so exploring can be boring.

This is not to say that the game is rubbish - I completed it to the end. However, it cannot compare to games like Freelancer.

Does anyone know if there any improvements over the PC version?

Metacritic 63% = cold

Under a fiver would be worth a punt, IMO :prop:

Does anyone know if there any improvements over the PC version?

Was interested in that myself, so I found an interview with the developer, here's what they had to say:

What's the plot behind Dark Star Broken: Alliance? How much heritage does this game share with the PC game? What parts of the game are new?
The Plot of PC and console version are the same. In the story, you play as Kayron Jarvis, a young hotshot pilot who is investigating the mysterious death of his father. Early in the game, you are assigned command of the DarkStar One, a new ship that features a new technology that lets you completely customize it.

There's also a sub-plot regarding an alien invasion, but we'll leave that for players to discover.

As far as "what's new" on the Xbox 360 version - we upgraded the graphics to full HD (1080p-supported) and of course, we've fine-tuned the controls for use on the control pad.

Bit rubbish considering the pc version came out in 2006! Not a bad game back then, but things have moved on a bit since so it's a bit disappointing that nothing else has been added. At this sort of price I'd leave it, under a £10 and it'd be worth a punt IMO

Repetitive as hell and the voice acting and FMV sequences are some of the worst I've ever seen, but it's enjoyable enough. Wouldn't pay over £10 for it personally, though.

As you have confirmed it is essentially the same as the PC version from 2006, might as well bring it to people's attention that Dark Star One is currently available on Steam for £2.03 - HERE

It's a 4 year old game, so the specs are really low compared to any PC bought recently

Got it from Steam last night, Crashes if you try to play it at 22" Monitor native resolution I:E 1680 x 1050, There are work rounds on the net, But stuff flogged on Steam should not be as blatantly buggy as that, Not best pleased to be honest.

If its the same as the PC version, anyone know how to find the sub-plot of the alien invasion?
