Each day this week Tesco are selling a DVD with a single episode of David Attenborough's Nature's Great Events for the princely sum of one Great British Penny!

You won't find them in the Entertainment section, for some bizarre reason they're on display in a box by the Newspapers.

They don't have a price marked on them, or a shelf-edge label, but when scanned they ring up as 1p. You may assume that something dodgy is going on, but there is absolutely nothing anywhere in store to suggest that this is anything but a legitimate transaction of one penny for a DVD!

There is a different episode on offer each day until Friday. Unfortunately I only noticed this deal today so missed Saturday and Sunday's episodes.

Entirely coincidently, there appears to be a multibuy offer involving these DVDs - if you buy a DVD and the Daily Mail at the same time then 1p gets knocked off your bill! Bonus!

I like that you tagged this deal with Daily Fail. Although to be honest that's probably one of the nicer names I've heard for it.

Then they should write a letter of complaint. I hear Daily Mail readers are quite good at that sort of thing

You could get it from WHSmith i think

Its not totally ripping ppl off and it saves you spending more money on the paper!

Would it not be the case that the 1p won't be charged if the paper is bought as well?

I'd say it's just the way it is set up in their system that some folks just don't lift one without buying the Daily Mail at the same time.

I'll find out later myself anyway ;-)

I do!

A 30y.o Male, Wife and two kids, Home Owner, Full Time job. Love to Party, love to cook, love messing about with Classic American Cars etc. I see these comments regulary on here but dont get why people hate the Mail so much?? I like it for the Historic Pieces they usually do. I know they have a thing for Imagrants etc but then so do I !:-D

Daily Mail is better than papers like The Mirror and The Sun, those two are just full of crap and mostly about celebrities only.
Daily Mail sometimes follows suit but not as much
I never want to know that some old non interesting person is taking a holiday at some beach.

If it was free then too many people would take it, just because its free. It's not ripping people off if you dont plan to buy the paper !

how it works, if you dont buy the paper and take the DVD they charge you 1 penny.

and if you do buy the paper and have the coupon inside they still charge you the 1 penny,

the only time it is free is if you buy the paper and remove the coupon infront of the till and exchange it for the dvd,
alternatively some one else can give you the coupon and you can exchange it for the dvd,......

you may find in the small print it could state one DVD per household, but who reads the small print now a days....

or I went in a local tescos express and they had so many they gave me 3 free..lol

Well I scanned the DVD and it rung up at 1p. I then scanned the Mail at the self service till and it rung up the price of the Mail then showed up that the 1p has been removed for the DVD. So there's no need to worry about coupons just scan both the DVD and Paper and away ya go!
