£82 a month for single person as far as I know.
This was a great deal, wish there were more offers like this.

Why are people voting cold because it's expensive when full price., so doesn't it make this a good deal for 2 weeks.
because they are vultures.
Voted hot.

I'm already a member at Virgin Active so the deal isn't of any use to me, but this is a great price for a 2 week unlimited access deal (equivalent of £28ish a month) and great for something to do with the kids as quite a few David Lloyd gyms have outdoor swimming pools.

Don't forget to use a dummy email and phone number as you'll be hounded constantly until you join
They had free 14 days offer last week. I got a call so went in, got ignored for half an hour and walked out. We were members with our kids, cost £145 per month. Kids pool constantly closed, once it made them physically sick about 20 mins after getting out of the pool. One child cut their hand on the pool tiles and it was ignored. 2 steam rooms I don't remember both ever being open together for almost a year. When you pay a premium price you expect premium service. I would avoid dl.
ranges but iirc around £50-60 a month off peak - I think i pay 770 ish a year up front for anytime (which is marginally cheaper than monthly payment for anytime access). But knowing DL I suspect they have different costs at different locations !

There was a free 14 day pass available at davidlloyd/promotions/free but this was taken down very quickly. I saw it in the Evening Standard money section last week but a day or two after I signed up it was gone. A sales rep from the club then called me to arrange an induction. Not sure if it's for the whole family, I'll have to check when I go tomorrow.

Freya seems quite angry and doesn't seem to understand there was one offer that was free for 14 days - what the OP posted - and now there is a different offer which is £14 for 14 days - NOT what the OP posted about.

I was angry because I hate misleading offers, this was never free unless you had a flyer, which most didn't. I didn't want others to go round in circles. DL confirmed they messed up on this one but I trust they have corrected it.
The rep rang me back and wanted £14 for the free pass.

Exactly!

I'm not sure why this is expired. I just phoned them 03/04 and arranged a visit today 04/04. Had a great visit I was offered tea and coffee numerous times, sat down with her and explained what I would like to get out of the gym when asked. Had a tour of the place and was told my family could use tennis court (rackets provided), swimming pool and attend kids classes with our son or adult fitness classes if we went ourselves. We can also use the Sauna/Steam room. Oh yeah and family changing rooms have personal showers, nice touch!

I was very impressed, I know they are offering all this to try and get a year membership out of me but still nice to try out. Thank you for posting this OP, easily the most money I've saved from Hot UK Deals to date as membership can cost around £150 per month according to people on money saving expert.

They kept mentioning a leaflet but I just kept saying I seen it on their website. There is a similar offer for £14 for same thing but she wasn't confrontational when i said the form i filled in was for free trial.

Bargain place.. Not... Was quoted a laughable 156/month few years ago for 2 adults and 2 kids and that wasn't the top package either

yep. that sounds familiar...my membership went up from £60 about 2 yrs ago and I was told to pay £100 for 2 adults. and that was a basic membership only gym and swimming pool access. I 'politely' refused and havent been back since.

might go for 2 weeks now though

niggardly
Thanks WesleyT, but I have been a member in the past. I would only join again if they changed their small print.

In short I needed to cancel, but was expected to pay 10 months for nothing. Luckily for me I cancelled my direct debit and my bank obviously had more clout because that was the end of it. (Nice club though for posh people & men who think size makes you hard)
I wouldn't advise this, A friend of mine did exactly this and thought themselves so clever "beating the system" just over a year later they recieved a county court letter asking for the entire years fee + 3 months in lue of notice + admin costs. Stupidly they went to costs, lost as if was a legally binding contract and had to pay all the about + court costs...
Warning to everyone David Lloyd are the worse managed gym. About me...I used to be a member for 8 years when it was Next Generation, changed 3-4 years ago and steadily declined. Showers don't work in winter, gym gear is not maintained, staff are cut AND prices keep going up and up. The suck you into 3 MONTHS before you can leave too. Its an overpriced, badly run show. Full of annoying spoilt brat kids on weekends via family memberships and old pensioners during the day. I don't have problem with either group....you just can't mix everyone into same pot and charge totally different prices. I pay 98 a month, students paid 50 a month, kids and families pay 150-200 for upto 4 people. BUT David Lloyd don't advertise or clearly state their prices, they want to take you for as much as they think they can, the sales staff are told to do so. Ask them by phone or visit their website, no useful prices. The Dartford David Lloyd is cheap and has been uninvested for years, I went to other David Lloyds in King's Hill, it was much better with half decent showers and facilities. The Finchley one was slightly better too. Management spends less in the "Chav locations", an insider told me off the record when he left as personal trainer. Oh and personal trainers hate them too, they make them charge 35-40 an hour and keep 75-80%, is that fair? I made many friends and enjoyed the gym for a long-time, eventually it became such a rip off I had to cut the cord. If you ignore this advice, then at least try a gym pass and get passed the salespeople with their free coffee, tea and talking crap at you to sign the dotted line. Go and use it, try the dirty showers (no soap) and filthy toilets (staff don't wash their hands). Good luck, God bless.
Thanks for info I am hoping deal is still on
Most gyms have a contract that you sign up for a set period, David Lloyd are no different

Signed up for this yesterday. The pool is closed for maintenance at my own gym so it'll tide me over until it's back open. It seems the take up on this offer has been good at the gym near me. Wouldn't pay the full price but it's nice to check out what I'm missing.

I heard someone asking why they hadn't done this before, and she was told they do it every year. Thanks for the heads up though OP.

Actually this is incorrect at my DL gym in Sudbury Hill, its £5 for 12 days.

You can get £5 for 12 days yes but thats only if someone is already a member and invites you to do it. If not then its the 12 days for £12 option.

Good deal.
12 'consecutive' days around Christmas? Tempted but a bit of a squeeze time wise. I concur with the comment above; the LA Fitness groupons were excellent value and each 10 sessions were allowed over 6 weeks.

OK, just had a call back from the Gym I was interested in. They told me that despite being listed as one of the gyms in the offer, they arent.

As soon as I told him I wasn't willing to pay more than £15 a month, he just gave up trying to sell the place and service. (_;)

My nearest gym is the local leisure centre, you get free weights and machines, latest state of the art cardio machines, swimming and various classes such as boxercise etc all for free, you don't have to pay a single penny, although sauna might knock you back about 3 quid, but I've used that aswell on ocassions without paying and its very rare a member of staff will come and check.

can I ask how you get it for free? and what the location is? as I've never been to a Leisure Centre that I didn't have to pay anything for.

better idea, dont join the gym just walk or ride a bike there then turn round and go home, exercise done! i used to peddle past my gym on the 6 mile round trip looking in the window at all the fat pie munchers and think hmmmm bet they are warm in there (was in winter) ;-)

One post really would have been sufficent. In the situations you have detailed I really feel that it is the individuals fault, not David Lloyds... They clearly state in the T&Cs that they need to obtain a receipt, the fact that these people clearly didn't read their terms should be a reason to exploit them. Lesson learnt, read the damn contract before signing.

This membership only has a one month cancellation period (send recorded delivery/email and provide a written letter to the receptionist and get a confirmation of receipt before the last direct debit and then cancel it, sorted.)

My point is i did the one month cancellation according to their terms and conditions and was still stuck having to pay extra months....anyway...i will leave you to find out for yourself, i was trying to warn you but you obviously disregarded that fact and believe they stick to what they tell you upon sign up, p.s recorded delivery never gets signed for there.....try it and see.....and good luck!

Got a free day pass for DL in Derby. No hard sell on arrival, filled out a form, stated I was not interested in joining on the form but they still managed to call my home for ~2 weeks, all ignored! All in all, despite the incessant calls, I would say it was worth the visit having spent 6 hours there playing tennis, badminton, swimming and working out in thee gym...yes I was aching for days afterward. However, I can't justify spending over double the amount I am paying for my DW Sports membership.
My friend got a free pass for the one at bromsgrove saying she was thinking about joining, they showed her round and went through the pricing but there was no hard sell. The staff were more than happy when she said she'd think about it and left her alone to use the facilities. Dont know if all of the clubs are the same though.,
Are they super pushy when you go for your free day? I think I'll pass if the entire time I'm there, they try to get me to join and upsell me a bunch of useless crap...
Often involved with a selling process on the day.
billy_whizz
I think its just for one person. But usually at the clubs if you mention you might be interested in joining they let you bring in the children.
