Remaking horror movies appears to be all the rage these days and it's leaving self confessed horror aficionados like me in a state of conflict. On the one hand we want to criticise said films as being disrespectful to the groundbreaking originality of the horror pioneers, but on the other hand the remakes they keep churning out are just so DAMN good we find we can't. This beauty is no exception as a group of humans led by Ving Rhames and the gorgeous Sarah Polley try to fend off a zombie attack of massive proportions.

Awesome film.

Dire film when compared to the original! Awful acting and a laughable script...

...but I still find it compulsive viewing :)

It's great to see the cast from the original making cameos too.

Hot for me.

I'm thinking of making Dawn of the Dead 2, filming is going to be at Cabot Circus shopping centre Bristol, the mindless consumers wont need much special make up! ;)

I preferred this to the original. I've watched the Romero version dozens of times, and still really like it, but I find it it about half an hour too long - it meanders too much for me in the second half of the movie.

As for the acting - the original was hardly full of A-list top notch acting! Some of the zombies put in better performances than the main cast!

Great film which is very respectful of Romero's and proves he should of done much better than his dire Land of Dead/Diary of The Dead. Loved this from the first time I saw it and I now consider it a classic.

Has to be HDDVD/Blu-Ray though and not manky DVD!

I`ve never understood peoples reverence on the originals. I always found it extremely frustrating how people always managed to get caught by the slow stumbling Zombies. I much prefer this and 28 Days/Weeks later`s take on the genre.

Oh the great thign about the original is that the Zombies overpowered people by sheer numbers. Thats the true horror of zombies over say Vampire films, it just spreads and infects and theres just hordes of shuffling undead out for brains. a lot more suspenseful imo.

But then i'm a bit sad

Totally agree with both of these posts. When we came out of the cinema, we were approached by a couple of bible bashers asking if we'd been to see The Passion of the Christ (out around the same time). We said no, Dawn of the Dead. "Oh, what's that then?". Me: "Same thing really, resurrected dead trying to take over the world". The look on their faces, lol.

I thought this was very well done for a remake
