just reserved one at Rhyl (one more remaining) - thanks! And they're open till 6pm :)

5 year warranty has to be a good thing but you will likely need it, Dyson build quality is questionable and generally overrated vacuums in my opinion.
#16
If you can't get the Dyson and want the best cylinder cleaner try the Numatic 'Henry' for around the same price everywhere. The Henry is quieter, sucks better and will last longer than any Dyson.

Btw, I had several Dysons before and now use the Henry for the last three years with no problems.

And I bet that the 5 year warranty is used at least once a year for those 5 years! ;-)

I got the last one off the shelf in Redditch today. Only left the display one and that sold before i left the store.
£97.86 i paid.
#22
Thanks for the heads up.

I popped into my local Matalan and managed to pick up the Dyson DC 19 for £97.99
#23
The DC07 upright Hoover is also £99.99 which is also a great price, as it retails at £140 at other retailers
#24
Thanks! Just made a special trip to our local Matalan and bagged the last one for my Dad!

Been using Dysons for over 5 years now. They need to be cleaned regularly and properly at least once every 6 months otherwise suction decreases and they start smelling of rotten eggs. I have had to remove all the extra bit and pieces as there annoyingly keep falling off.

They are very plasticy however hold up well if treated well. Its pot luck if you need to call Dyson as a result of your vacuum cleaner playing up. Ive not needed to call them to date.

Ooh sweeping statement alert!

I would not argue that a Henry might last longer than a Dyson. But is it quieter, because the newer Dysons are quieter than the old ones? And it's a cylinder cleaner so is **** at cleaning carpets compared with any upright.

Dyson deservedly had a bad reputation - I believe the glittery plastic they used to use was inherently weak. But I think they've got a lot better, and perhaps the guarantee means something - but if it doesn't include labour (I haven't read the terms on mine) then it's not worth much...

It's a cylinder cleaner I am comparing with and I am speaking from experience and have not made a sweeping statement.

Why do most commercial users prefer a Henry over a Dyson? The answer is because it's more robust, has a larger dust container, sucks better, and is quieter.

I am not working for Numatic of have any interest to support them. I am just a private housholder having used Hoover, Elektrolux, Dyson.and Numatic (cylinder) vacuum cleaners.

just get a cheapo £30 argos one

Grr.. no luck at my end of London. Well done to those who got one

You said "any Dyson" - if you mean "the particular Dyson on this thread" then you should have said "this Dyson" and it would have made your statement rather less sweeping. ;-) But thank you for correcting your earlier posting.

Why do you bring up irrelevant arguments? This is a domestic cleaner, and to point out one difference - the higher running costs of the Henry due to the need for disposable bags. This could be a disadvantage in a domestic setting while ironically could be the opposite in a commercial setting where you don't mind throwing money at the problem if it makes it more likely that you will get a better result (because cleaners will happily change bags but aren't going to wash filters).

I would also love to see cold hard figures to back up your claims about noise and suction power.
#32
Hey Magic Deal, Just bought the display model for £97!!!!
#33
Who wants a domestic cleaner when they can get a commercial one for the same price ?.
Not me.

Dyson is style over substance, if style is more important to you than a robust piece of equipment then this is a great deal.

Henry does not need disposable bags you can get cloth ones for him if you wish.
Ps Henry does have a washable filter.

Ah - that explains the asthmatic wheezing that comes from both me and the vacuum cleaner that is brought round at the end of the working day. But then most office "cleaning" consists of going through the motions and little else.

I also did recently based on all the fantastic reviews ... it sucks ;-)

lol....ive seen loads of "schoolyard battles" in my time (speccy vs C64 those were the days) but never thought id see a "Dyson vs Henry".....some people obviously have a lifetime of angst to offload

I have had a couple of Dysons and they were rubbish....HOWEVER, Dyson did come out and fix one of them when it broke. Yes, they actually came to my house to fix it!
