I've read that the film should be avoided, it spoils a great series.

This was a fab show! I watched it years ago when it was first on Sky, shame it got axed! This was one of the reasons I quit Sky. All the shows I liked got axed!

Well, whoever told you that was plainly wrong, film was indeed different, but was quite good, it didnt have quite the same feeling to it as "Rube" isnt in it and Daisy is a different actress, but it odes stay fairly true to it's roots.

As for this comment, it wasn't Sky's fault the show got canned, they were just a reshower of it, infact it was the American TV channel "Showtime" that canned DLM, Brian Fuller (sometimes writes for Heroes) was the man behind it, but they got rid of him towards the end of the first series, with out him, the second series was nowhere near as good or popular (thanks to the crappy network) and they dropped it.
There is massive support to bring the show back, but again, it is very doubtful it will return unless sales of the DVD movie are worthwhile.

I did not say Sky axed it directly, but they do/did screen several shows that get axed after a series or two. So I just got fed up with it. But Sky being owned by Rupert Murdock must have some influence on what shows get axed and can put pressure on publishers to keep shows running/commission more to be made...
