Intergalactic engineer and Necromorph-slayer Isaac Clarke is back for another spine-tingling serving of survival horror. With larger environments, a host of new weaponry, and an all-new multiplayer mode, Dead Space 2 is an interstellar sequel that's out of this world.

Engineer Isaac Clarke returns for another blood-curdling adventure in the sequel to the critically acclaimed Dead Space. After waking from a coma on a massive space city known as "The Sprawl", the lone survivor of a horrific alien infestation finds himself confronting a catastrophic new nightmare.

Battling dementia, hunted by the government, and haunted by visions of his dead girlfriend, Isaac will do whatever it takes to save himself and dominate the gruesome onslaught. With an arsenal of tools to dismember Necromorphs and new determination, an engineer will bring the terror to space.

Dead Space 2 features new tools to gruesomely slice and dismember the Necromorphs complement Isaac's signature plasma cutter, empowering him as he meets new characters, explores epic Zero-G environments, and fights against a relentless Necromorph onslaught. Survival isn't the only thing on Isaac's mind in Dead Space 2 - this time, he calls the shots!

This is XBOX Only not PS3 as per the title

is 1 platform better than the other?

Both pretty similar for a change so take your pick, http://www.eurogamer.net have a comparison of all versions.

If you are bothered about the PSN Move game then there's the Limited Edition around but the freebie is on a few quid seperately on the PSN anyway.

Anyone waiting for the Limited Edition version, will be in for a long wait. They are now out of print so the only way you're getting one of those is second hand, or if there is a copy left in your local store. Don't expect to get one off the likes of Play and Amazon, there limited editions went out on a first come first served basis.

HOT thanks :)

I have both platforms, but what annoys me is that most games on the ps3 are still output in 720p instead of 1080p, i know there is scaling going on anyway but theres no reason why ps3 games cant be output in 1080p, unless its not powerful enough to handle it? I use my amp to upscale ps3 720p to 1080p...... :)

1080P has many more pixels-> 2,106,000 Vs 1,049,088 (basically twice as many) as 720P, therefore that it requires much more graphic processing power to move a greater number of pixels

And, if games are developed in 1080p, the extra detail has to go some where. So, disc size comes into consideration. Make it 1080p, then game length would be shorter, as can only fit so much on disc. Or, go 720p, which is fine, and can have a longer storyline, etc.

No doubt if they were 1080p and game length shorter, people would then be moaning about game length! :)

The PS3 doesn't upscale games, it's not built into the architecture. You can however, force an alternative by disabling the lower resolutions - forcing a game to run in 1080p however it's not a sure-fire way to accomplish it.

A game should always be played in its native resolution really anyway, since that's the resolution the texturing work would have been originally created for. Trying to force definition out of something that lacks that extra definition information is the visual equivilant of those "surround sound" single-speaker setups. Saying that, there's no accounting for what some people think looks better.

The PS3 LE version's the one to get, sold mine already though.

Great price and game! just keep some spare underpants nearby.....

Really want this but I'm completely skint. Been watching the price for a while and said once it goes under the magic £20 mark I'd get it.
#22
Best playing this game in a dark room, with nobody home and if you have a home theatre with the sound up.

Microsoft has got to stop just slapping 1080P on the back of there games, especially when almost all 360 games has a native render resolution of just 720P anyway(the 1080P is just the upscaled bit), at least sony put the true native render resolution on the case, most xbox 360 owners would gasp if they new halo 3 was just rendered at 640P and then upscaled to 720P for case purposes, alot of 360 games are rendered at less than 720P even.

LOL! its a game not a film.....using that logic the pc version must come on a blue ray as the pc can run higher resolutions than 1080p..those extra pixels have got to come from somewhere!..X)

Yeah, the resolution has nothing to do with the content on the disc (unless there are lots and lots of cutscenes). The hardware simply draws more pixels on the screen, the sacrifice (going from 720p up to 1080p) is more likely to be effects (pixel shader complexity most likely), so perhaps the lighting / shadows / depth of field wouldn't be quite as good at 1080p in order to render all the pixels at 60 or 30fps.

Resolution isn't everything when it comes to gfx, image quality (particularly lighting and shadows) makes the world of difference. Meaning a good 720p image can look better than an average 1080p image
