I think the site is a bit flaky at the moment as I dont seem to be able to basket the offer to get the delivered price, but you may have more luck than me.

Stay in touch for less with friends and family this Christmas with a Tesco Internet Phone. If you haven't used internet phones before this is a great opportunity to try it out and see the benefits for yourself. Get one for yourself and give one to friends or family in the UK or abroad to chat for free*. Not compatible with Microsoft Vista.

Broadband connection required. The Tesco internet phone service, including access to emergency services, will not work if your broadband connection fails or there is a power cut.

The deal def says 2 phones for £10.

As you say I cant basket it either yet

Just called Tesco Direct and they acknowledged the deal.

So here is what you have to do if you want these phones:

1. Call Tesco Direct on 08456004411
2. Tell'em about the offer and that you can't place an order via website as it shows incorrect price.
3. They will charge you FULL amount for the order. For example, £59.94 if you want set of 2.
4. Then they will issue a refund back to your card - in case of 2 phones that'll be £49.94

These phones are not compatible with Vista!

The deal is really hot, IMHO.

The deal is 2 phones for £10 so shouldn't they be refunding £49.94?
Or am I reading the offer wrong.
#8
That still makes it £20 and not £10 as deal states. (for 2 phones)

Hey guys, there are BIG compatability problems with these (not just with Vista) so unless you want to be locked into Tesco's broadband service, be careful. See this Skype link for more info ....

Thanks Kommunist, I was about to ring them also ;-)

It is a very good price, did they quote you delivery or was it free as its over £50 before they refund you?
#11
Oh, sorry - it was my mistake :( I just ordered 2 sets (4 phones in total and was thinking of 20 quid instead of 10).

Post corrected.
#12

I didn't ask for delivery as I wanted to collect it from my local Tesco, so it is free for me.

That is the same as I got. I was also given an email address to send the link to someone in Tesco Marketing and they will call me back.

another misprice they dont intend to honour
#17
i callled them and they said that it is an error and it will definitely be £10 for two, Not a misprice as you can see from the labels.
#18

Yes but the site is much faster :) Temporary measures for the rest of this week until we can patch in a better system there or get the new site rolled out.

Does anyone know if these have to have a PC switched on all the time to use them, or can they plug into your broadband router?

Anyone got one already and can comment on the quality?
#25
thanks to MikeT & barneydog to explain the problem we are having. Cheers :)

Perhaps they might want to get quidco or use a voucher points code or something.

I will have to assume that these phones work the same as the other Tesco Internet phones, someone will correct me if I'm wrong.

You register the phone over the Internet when you get them. Since there are two phones I assume that you register one for yourself and your friend or relative registers the other.

You then get a choice of STD code, for example you may live in an 01642 code are but you can choose what STD code you want to be shown as being in. You could choose to have a London, Birmingham, Liverpool, Huddersfield, Leeds number for example.

For the chosen STD area you then offered a choice of available phone numbers. Take your pick and complete the registration.

To dial out you have the phone connected to your USB and have the Tesco internet phone software installed. You can dial from the screen or dial from the handset and you are connected to your chosen number (landline or mobile) as you would with an ordinary phone. Your credit is reduced as you use the phone and you top up as you require.

When your phone is connected to the computer you can also receive calls from landlines, mobiles etc when people dial your number.

I got one and showed my wife how to dial me when I was working in Malaysia, I think we paid 3p per minute. We simply arrange that she will call me at the hotel at a certain time and it saves a fortune.

Quality is not absolutely brilliant but I have never found it to be bad, no dropped calls and no cross-talk.

We have Virgin media so calls are cheap if we don't go above 59 minutes so the Internet phone is not useful for normal calls but you can call other Tesco mobiles free.

I'm happy with mine anyway, my brother is happy with his.

Hope this helps

(no, I don't work for Tesco)

If you go to the page now it's marked down at £2 but none in stock http://direct.tesco.com/q/R.100-3276.aspx or http://direct.tesco.com/promo/?id=S00004504 but it does say "Promotion ends: Friday 30 November 2007" on the page, but i doubt they'll get any more in stock
