It seems a bit of a mistake, but John Lewis are advertising on the website a Mac Mini 1.83 GHz Superdrive Desktop computer for £399 the RRP is £529

To add to the confusion the description seems to be partly for the new 1.66 ghz duo (combo drive and 60gb hdd. The model is MA607B/A which is the 1.66ghz combo desktop). However the processor is listed as the 1.83 ghz chip and the headline title is the superdrive model.

It might be worth a try to see what you get. The online order can be further discounted by using the £15 off orders over £75.

Interesting first post Kebabselector, looks intriguing :)

I think the model is the cheaper RRP 399 one sadly. As the hard drive listed is 60gb rather than the 80gb for the rrp 529 model. Of course anyone up for a gamble could order and try and get one, as john lewis are often pretty good on things like that.

** Welcome to the forums Kebabselector** :)

Thanks for the welcome,

I think they've been confused as the new 1.66 and 1.83 have only just become available for normal retail (rather than through the apple shops). Seems the person booking them in has combined the 2.

When you order it online the confirmation email states 'Apple Mac Mini 1.83GHz SuperDrive Desktop Computer 1 £399.00'

I guess the proof will be with the despatch email and subsequent delivery. Still if it all goes bad i know i can take it back to the local JL.

Great site btw, been lurking for a while.

"Out of stock" now....

There was only 2 in stock for the last few days. Maybe this thread has promoted the item. I should get some commission from JL!

Thread title changed to reflect stock status!

Yes i would imagine those 2 sales are directly from here, hope those people get the higher spec model!

Lets hope I do too. Failing that an iMac 1.83 will be fine :p

Update:

It arrived today but it is (as i thought it might be) the 1.66Ghz model.

I'm on the phone to them so will see what the problem is and what they sort out.

/edit They are speaking to the buying dept to see what the issue is.

The Item sent is a MA607 this is correct for the 1.66ghz Combo
The 1.83ghz superdrive is MA608

Forgot to mention the despatch note describes the item as an Apple Mac Mini 1.83GHz SuperDrive Desktop Computer

/edit 2 The buying dept are investigating the problem and will call me.

Mine arrived today, a 1.66Ghz combo. Called John Lewis very helpful, I said I ordered the 1.83 model but received the 1.66. He said it must be a miss pick and has arranged a pick-up and replacement. I will see what happens now.

EDIT. John Lewis called me to say it was out of stock would I like a refund. I have asked to be informed when the new stock arrives and I will hold onto the 1.66 mini mac until then.

Same here, will wait for the stock to come in. Most likely will swap it my local store for the 1.83 model. Still the buying office have yet to contact me.

Customer services have come back to me to tell they are not going to stock the 1.83ghz model so its a mistake. I've spoken to trading standards and they have confirmed they can do this. Still waiting for the buying dept to contact me.

I note the website has been changed to the correct model.

Apologies for digging this one up from the dead, just wondering how people got on?

In the end i took mine back to the shop after they said they'd send me £100 of vouchers (which they did). Also the shop refunded the full amount and the website also refunded my £15 discount. So ended up with £130 back.

They still haven't got it in, looks like they are undecided about Macs at the moment. The MacBook Pro (core 2) has only just gone on sale there (specs are wrong the product codes are correct). Personally i'm waiting for the C2D MacBooks.

The C2D macbooks are great. I got mine via the uni website with good discount :) Works out to be around £150 discount.
