I just bought one of these today to fill in for my 10 month old grandson. He can't read as yet - takes after his grandma - but it will be a lovely journal for him to keep in years to come. I wish I had one from my Grandad.

This wonderful From Me to You Journal is packed with 60 questions to help your Grandad record events, family history and aspirations.

They also do Grandma, Mum and Dad journals.

The idea is to give it to your Grandad, he then fills in as many questions as he wants and then hands it back to you to treasure. Not only is this a very special heirloom gift, even though it seems you are buying THEM a gift, really it's for you! These fantastic hardback journals will offer an insight into your family and can be passed down through generations. Capture your grandparents memories on paper with our From You To Me Journals. This 128 page book will allow you to ask questions without being confrontational, those niggling thoughts that you just don't have the confidence to ask can now be answered in an unobtrusive way. Questions such as "How did you meet my Grandmother?" and "Describe some of your favourite memories..." can be answered at the flick of a pen.

Dear Grandad

Here is a gift from me to you... for you to give to me.

When we are children we are always asking questions... well I now have some more for you.

Please could you answer them in the way that only you know how and then give the book back to me.

There might be 1 or 2 questions that you prefer not to answer, so don't worry, just answer the others as well as you can... I won't mind.

People say that we all have at least one book in us, and this will be one of yours.

The story of you and me that I will treasure forever

Very thought provoking - brings back so many childhood memories. Gives me a chance to reflect on my life and share some of that with my grandson now just in case I am not around when he is old enough to understand.

"Please grandad write stuff down , you'll be dead soon" , not that great a message to some older relatives I think.

Glass half empty is it? I thought they were a good idea and realistically if it was given by a grandchild wouldnt cause any offense at all.

They have others too. Did a search to see what combinations/ prices just out of interest and if you're looking for a version for 1) a son 2) a brother 3) Christmas past, then for today only you can get all three for £15.10 delivered (free delivery and £3 off today) at eden.co.uk

Sounds like a great idea, but may not be suitable for all. Some relatives maybe sensitive about growing old and so things like this may remind them of their soon to be ending mortality.

None of my grandparents are alive now, and my father has passed away too.
I wish someone had got them to fill these in for me - They are a brilliant idea!
If I ever get round to having kids, their grandparents will be getting these as their 1st xmas present.

That's kind of what I thought as soon as I saw this, it might upset some people, though the idea is a good one if done tactfully!

Would also like to know what kind of questions there are.

The type of questions asked are:
What are your earliest memories?
How did you meet Grandma?
What did you study at school and what did you do best at?
What did you used to do for a night out?
What are your favourite 10 songs?
Where is the furthest place that you have travelled to?
What games did yiou play as a child?
Tell me about the things that made you happy and laugh?
Describe your memories of major events that happened in your lifetime?
