Hey this is my first post.

This is the cheapest I've seen this anywhere, and appears to be a good price.

Product Description
Light Yagami is an ace student with great prospects - and he's bored out of his mind. But all that changes when he finds the Death Note, a notebook dropped by a rogue Shinigami death god. Any human whose name is written in the notebook dies, and now Light has vowed to use the power of the Death Note to rid the world of evil. But when criminals begin dropping dead, the authorities send the legendary detective L to track down the killer. With L hot on his heels, will Light lose sight of his noble goal...or his life? Light tests the boundaries of the Death Note's powers as L and the police begin to close in. Luckily Light's father is the head of the Japanese National Police Agency and leaves vital information about the case lying around the house. With access to his father's files, Light can keep one step ahead of the authorities. But who is the strange man following him, and how can Light guard against enemies whose names he doesn't know?

Don't expect that to happen anytime soon, these DVD's are usually around £10-20 each.

I thought this was a box set of books rather than DVDs. Still a good price, but no good if you're expecting shiny circular things and you get papery things instead!

Anime (アニメ?) refers to the animation style originated in Japan. It is characterized by distinctive characters and backgrounds (hand-drawn or computer-generated) that visually and thematically set it apart from other forms of animation. Storylines may include a variety of fictional or historical characters, events, and settings. Anime is aimed at a broad range of audiences and consequently, a given series may have aspects of a range of genres. Anime is most frequently broadcast on television or sold on DVDs either after their broadcast run or directly as original video animation (OVA). Console and computer games sometimes also feature segments or scenes that can be considered anime.

Manga (漫画?) is Japanese for "Comics" or "Whimsical images". Manga developed from a mixture of ukiyo-e and Western styles of drawing, and took its current form shortly after World War II. Manga, apart from covers, is usually published in black and white but it is common to find introductions to chapters to be in color and is read from right to left. Financially, manga represented in 2005 a market of ¥24 billion in Japan and one of $180 million in the United States.[1] Manga was the fastest growing segment of books in the United States in 2005.

Anime and manga share many characteristics, including: "exaggerated physical features such as large eyes, big hair and elongated limbs... and dramatically shaped speech bubbles, speed lines and onomatopoeic, exclamatory typography."[2] Some manga, a small amount of the total output, is adapted into anime, often with the collaboration of the original author. Computer games can also give rise to anime. In such cases, the stories are often compressed and modified to fit the format and appeal to a wider market.[3] Popular anime franchises sometimes include full-length feature films, and some have been adapted into live-action films and television programs.

I'm not a Manga reader and this was the first series I ever read, well I read the very short Domo first by the guy who wrote Akira but I thought Death Note was fantastic.

Maybe so but I have seen the full boxset for £35 before, I was about to buy it but then I decided not to, maybe I will the day I want to watch them again.

Great Anime!

Nice....!

Guys,

Is the manga much better than the anime? I'm actually watching the anime at the moment and am completely hooked! and wondered if the comics were as good?
Any comments most welcome. Merry X'mas all.

word has it, the manga is even better. The anime series dips a bit in the middle, and that is supposively cause of filler the tv producers put in.

Cheers OP, been looking to buy these for a while now.

Volume 13 is "How to Read Death Note" , which reveals some plot points left unexplored and is chock full of trivia.

Great series!
This manga is a good read, and decent price.
Amazon also have the DVD series (£44) and movie (£10).

Ordered this yesterday after reading the first book, it really is excellent so far. Think it was £45 on amazon last week as well, same as book depository so a nice little price drop if it was. ^_^

the limited edition dvd box set is far superior to this and nearly as cheap if you shop around.... one of my all time asian films :))
#17
You might want to emphasize that this is indeed the manga, which as some people fail to grasp, is not a box set of DVDs.

great price, been looking for this to come down. may have to purchase it.

The anime was really good just moving onto the live actions now :)
