There were codes on here a few weeks ago that started on 26th or maybe it was 24th. It was 10% off.

Got it to work. There are some good deals. Most stuff is 50% off but found some stuff that was 70% off. Got some cards for peanuts and jean for my nephew, all for £6.

Pretty disappointing sale to be honest - worth waiting for this one to be massively undercut.
#10
Codes don't work for me...

I bought a TRIPP brand case as a present from them before Xmas, I think they were 1/3rd off then. Seem to be very good quality. In fact everything on display in the store were quality luggage. So unless they are 'special purchase' stuff I think they are reliable for luggage.

Wouldn't buy anything from Debenhams again. Bought two products last weekend, both half price in a sale, and on getting them home found both to be damaged. When I took them back, they told me that their policy is not to give refunds on sale items, even if they are not working or damaged!! Absolutely awful service there and remember this when you buy stuff on sale there!!

No mention of it in their online returns policy:

Refund policy
Under our Debenhams Refund Policy, you have 28 days to return a product* to us, providing it is unused and in a saleable condition for a full refund. Where a product is faulty, damaged or misdescribed, we will refund the original delivery charge, but not when a product is simply unwanted**.

*Products we are unable to refund
In the interests of hygiene the following products are non-returnable.

•Underwear/lingerie, control wear, hosiery and swimwear unless the hygiene strips and tags are still in place
•Hats and hair accessories unless unworn and the tags still in place.
•Pierced earrings and pierced body jewellery.
•Quilts, duvets and pillows unless the original packaging remains undamaged and unopened.
•Cosmetics and toiletries, we will accept returns if they are in a saleable condition with unbroken seals and packaging, and only if supported by a valid proof of purchase (your despatch note) for exchange or refund.
•Gift food and products containing alcohol.
In addition the following items are non-returnable:

•Flowers
•Personalised/custom made/altered items
•Beds, mattresses and furniture
•Debenhams large appliances
•Large games

You should have argued your case better :whistling:

I did argue my case with the sales assistant and when she couldn't help me any further, I argued it out with the manager. They wouldn't budge. It seems like their in store returns policy is different. In their defence, it is mentioned very briefly on the board behind the tills (which is more often than not covered with returned goods) and on the back of the receipt (which is too late to make a difference). We argued to the point of being threatened with security, but just couldn't win. It covers all sale items, not just the ones mentioned, but may be only an in store thing.

im based in london. my wife buys heaps from debenhams and returns stuff all the time. The only time they refuse is when the discount is more than 50%. odd that individual stores policies are different. :?

Anyway, they have to provide a refund when selling online under the distance selling act. They are not bound by such a restriction instore and only need to fix or replace faulty or damaged goods. However, we didn't want them to be replaced because they must have been of an awful quality to be sold in such a condition. It was really bad that they wouldn't refund them even though they were damaged and bought on the same day, especially as they hadn't even taken the "We want you to be satisfied...... return within 28 days.... etc" stickers off the sales items.

It was the Croydon branch by the way so be a little wary when shopping there.

Even if the store has a no refund policy on sale items, by law they have to provide a refund if the item is faulty. They may be right not to provide you a refund but once you point out that the item is faulty they are under obligation to replace it with a working item or give your money back. If they give you stick then tell them you will get in contact with trading standards.

If it was me I would make a great scene speaking louder than needed and would only leave if Security kicked me out. The loud "discussion" is usually enough to make the manager give you what you want.
