bargain now have to persuade daughter to get one and not the £1200 one she wants, and will only ever wear for an hour at the most.

theres a reason why its cheap - its not very nice. Weddings costs so much these days cant see many brides be happy in a £60 dress lol

I will be getting married in a £75 dress ( reduced from £150) and I am very happy with it and will feel beautiful on the day. We are keeping it real on our wedding day. Spending £18k ( the UK average) on one day is ridiculous. We brought a house last year and if we had £18k it would knock a couple years off our mortgage, not pay for one day.
Our wedding should cost around £2k

A lot of weddings cost 20k because those involved end up putting on a panto instead, just for the attention of their friends (who are there mainly for the free bar).

Ha so true, the best weddings are always the ones out together on a shoestring, improvisation makes people a lot more creative.

Its all relitive - a decent holday abroad these days costs £2k - with a family over summer holdiays its double that! - I think you should spend whatever you can afford and make it as special as possible within that budget - sure no point going into debt but in the end you dont want to deprive yourself as you hopefully wont ever do it again (marriage I mean).

My wedding dress cost £135 and it is beautiful, can't wait to wear it. Our whole wedding day will cost £5k including marriage itself, dresses and suits, great photographer, rings, invitations, food and wine for 50 days guests, 70 evening guests, barn dance, wedding cake, accommodation for us and Mums, sweetie bar, flowers etc...I don't feel like we are missing anything from our day. Originally I would have liked to stick to a £3k budget but my hubby-to-be isn't as tight as me X)

Anyway, hot deal. I think the dress is beautiful, very elegant and a fab bargain!

cant see whats wrong with a cheep wedding our wedding cost under one thousand pounds, just went off and got married on our own, had a lot of moaning after, but was our day and didn't want to spend a lot, rather pay the mortgage off with any spare money. :)
