Decking Boards £2.98 @ B&Q (plus 15% off today)

I've just been to B&Q at Hermiston Gait, Edinburgh. They were selling decking boards 25mm x 120mm x 2400mm for £2.98. I assume that it's nationwide.

There is 15% off today so that brings the price down to £2.53.

I know that B&Q were doing decking for £1.98 last month (I bought lots!) but this looks better quality. I wish I'd waited a paid the extra 55p!

1. I added it as an offline deal.
2. Why are you comparing this to hardwood deck board with a different size ((L)2450 x (W)145 x (T)21mm)?
3. The queue wasn't that long.

I paid less than that yesterday in the Kiddermindter store.
They were reduced from £2.99 to (I think) £2.75 and then I got the extra 15% discount as well.
I'll not be doing my main decking project until the end of the season but I was more than happy with the price at B&Q - and the ques wern't bad in the store I used either.

The £1.98 decking board has gone up to £2.38, however there is a delay on the stock due to excessive demand on release of the first 50,000. Stock should be due in from week 15 - this is what i read on a staff email in Wednesbury store last weekend when i enquired about it. Have also found the quality of the one mentioned above poorer quality due to the tread pattern, the thinner strips on the edges split off - we had used this for making plant boxes in the garden and they now look naff, the cheaper one is what we have down as a decked area and looks really nice.

Thanks for a very informative post! As I mentioned in my post I bought them at £1.98. I'm a bit concerned that I won't have enough and even more concerned that they don't seem to have had more in stock since! When is week 15 though?? 15 weeks from April (being the financial year)? that's mid july!!!

I thought that the ones in B&Q today "looked" better but happy to hear that from experience the £1.98 boards are seem better!

The bloke i spoke to at Wednesbury said it meant the end of May, we need 10 boards to finish of our project and last saturday they were showing as having 90 in stock, when i arrived in store were showing 66 instock on the computer but no boards could be found in the store. I asked if they could find out what was happening after having a wasted 60 mile round trip to be shown the email ALL stores had received that Thursday. We dont want to buy the other boards as the treads are different and would look odd - even took an off cut of one of the pieces along with the barcode as several local stores tried to fobb me off with it all being the same stuff just different prices.

B&Q put their prices up on some products just before the 15% discount started.

15% off is only when you spend £50+ - cool if you are spending that much, if you are doing a big deck then you wont have a problem.

Very handy information. Thanks!
The boards that I got are to support some feather edge fencing and will be just the job because the colour match is perfect - and they're way cheaper than buying even unplaned treated timber.

Perhaps the first person to see them in at B&Q at the end of May could post the deal? I really need more boards and will keep looking but I don't want to be going into B&Q every day to check! lol

Any idea if the Reversible Treated Deck Board Smooth/Grooved Green Treated (L)2400 x (W)144 x (T)28mm EAN: 5022652800611 is going to drop in price? as was £3.28 a board, meassured up the garden for what i need went back and was £4.98, didnt mention it was a limited sale price.

And re the quality comment, which is the crapper one?

the comment was that the stuff that is current £2.98 isn't as good as the one that was £1.98. The one that was £1.98 will be £2.38 (ish) when it comes back in stock.

I'll be near B&Q tomorrow. Will take 1 minute of my time to check the barcode of what's on offer at the moment.

The barcode for the one that was originally £1.98 ends with 7751. The one for the £2.98 thats on offer now ends with 6049 if thats any help?

Over the past few weeks me and my mate decked both his garden and my garden, using B&Q deck boards.

The guy in store reckoned the 1.98 boards (now 2.38) were better quality than the 2.98 boards, however he thought that the 4.98 premium boards were far superior to both of those. At the time, these 4.98 boards were on offer at 3.28.

I did some very rough sums, and the £4.98 @ £3.28 actually worked out better value.....
They are 20% wider, so you don't need as many.
You therefore don't need as many screws.
And you don't need to lay as many boards, saving you time.

Its also worth noting that when you buy 20 or more 'reversible' deckboards, you get 15% off. All 3 of the boards mentioned are reversible.

So, it may be worth trying to find out if the wider £4.98 boards plan to come back down to £3.28.
