4gb for memory... wtf.

if you remove OS and keep everything including memory and hard drive as low as possible you can build this to be really really nice for a good price. does look hella ugly though :(

I imagine his response was to that of Manimal's comment of "4GB of memory...wtf" which was referencing the 4GB of RAM OP has included as part of this deal.

The GTX1060 included is 6GB.

Yeah considering the 1060 comes as 3GB or 6GB I'm pretty sure 4GB is not referencing either.

Actually it is a deal for what it is.
You'll be paying £500 more somewhere else.

Considering a couple months back you could only get a 980M which is like 50% the performance for £1000 this is a pretty good deal.

How about you point out a better deal laptop with a GTX 1060 or faster then?

But its not 50% petulance increase over the 980m and its a cheaper card in he first place. Not to mention the other specs aren't as good as the laptops you are mentioning or infact other 10xx laptops, which are more expensive as they come spec'd higher.

If you want the lowest cost 1060 laptop there is, probably this is it, but if you are going to spend stupid money on a laptop you should just spend the extra £~300 and get an Asus or prefered brand with more RAM, SSD all the bells and whistles based on mobo that is good.

"buy a prebuilt because you get a better mobo"
Ok, yes.

With this you can customise and get however much ram you want or whatever ssd you want lmao. All for £500 cheaper.

Also a 980M is not a 980, it is in between a 960 and 970 in performance.
A 1060 is better than a 980.

Do you know what "petulance" means?

The only problem I have is that I'm too tempted to up it to the 1070 as the mobile version supposed to actually be better in some ways when compared to the desktop version... but I'm still not quite brave enough to press buy.... yet

Yes but the 1060 notebook version is in between the 980m and the 980(notebook). I dont see where you are getting 500 cheaper by the time you spec it to the lowest MSI 1060 £200 max more from me looking for a minute, probably a lot closer.

Petulance was an auto correct error, from performance.

Still its not a deal, its just the price.

Same chip, I didn't say it wasn't, the clock speed is lower and it doesn't have the same cooling. Every respectable website has the latop / netbook version between the 980m and the 980 (notebook, version that fits in a notebook).

But no I'll do MY research.

You'll be paying £500 more somewhere else.
Considering a couple months back you could only get a 980M which is like 50% the performance for £1000 this is a pretty good deal.
But its not 50% petulance increase over the 980m and its a cheaper card in he first place. Not to mention the other specs aren't as good as the laptops you are mentioning or infact other 10xx laptops, which are more expensive as they come spec'd higher.
If you want the lowest cost 1060 laptop there is, probably this is it, but if you are going to spend stupid money on a laptop you should just spend the extra £~300 and get an Asus or prefered brand with more RAM, SSD all the bells and whistles based on mobo that is good.
lolololololol
go investigate who clevo/compal etc are then come back with the "good mobo" comment
Still rather have a prebuilt from MSI than a Clevo barebones from another company.
"Yes but the 1060 notebook version is in between the 980m and the 980(notebook)"
It's a full 1060 chip lol its not worse than a 980 you idiot.
Gonna disregard the stuff that comes out of your ass from now on.
"It's not a deal, it's just the price"
More stupid quotes lmfao.
"Clevo barebones" > what makes it barebones? Yeah it starts that way but the company surely does put stuff into it lmao
Please do some research before you chat ****. Thank you.
Same chip, I didn't say it wasn't, the clock speed is lower and it doesn't have the same cooling. Every respectable website has the latop / netbook version between the 980m and the 980 (notebook, version that fits in a notebook).
But no I'll do MY research.
"Lower clock speeds"
Yes because 30Mhz is enough to drop from 10% better than the 980 to now just better than a 980M /s

Just to further rub it in. You definitely did your research lmfao.

What part of netbook dont you understand? You are post GTX1060 results not gtx1060 in netbook/laptop results.
Edit; here http://www.notebookcheck.net/Nvidia-Pascal-for-Notebooks-In-depth-Benchmarks-for-the-Geforce-GTX-1080-SLI-GTX-1070-and-GTX-1060.171566.0.html
That firestrike leak is from a laptop.

Even if these results were 100% accurate, the 1060 has added efficiency and DX12 and Vulkan performance where the 980 actually loses performance. This isn't taking into account that some laptops have better cooling that others so you should be able to hit desktop level performance on them easily.

It still trades blows in the average benchmark you show as they are basically the same.

And the links I provided are notebook check (arguably the best notebook page on the web) own benchmarks and wccftech and pretty respectable site talking over ALL the leaked info.

Edit; so? That is all irrelevant because it has the cooling performance of that barebones, not amazing and loud compared to competition.

But I'm not going to discuss it anymore.
There is clearly no point, no matter the specs of the 1060, I gave my opinion on this deal and why I thought it wasn't good, your opinion is it is a good deal. People will get it or they won't, as long as they have both views I'm happy.

Also you should be able to get the exact same performance quite easily with a custom fan curve. As the specs are same apart from clock speed.

Would love an msi or gigabyte 1060 for this price. Not keen on cleveo custom chassis, I had a gaming laptop a while back and the thing comfortably hit 800db while looking like a paint slab of concrete.

It also overheated a lot and finally bit the dust.

We all have our own experiences, but mine wouldn't let me go down the custom chassis again.

Sucks man, I had a clevo 980M 4720HQ and it got really hot but never overheated.

I don't understand why this is so cold. I've looked around, and can't find better for this price.
