Last year's delicious wave of super cheap Marlborough SB seems to have abated but I noticed ASDA have a 2010 one in their 3 for £12 deal (sadly 3 for £10 has gone). This is usually an £8 wine so well worth seeking out. If you haven't tried NZ Sauv Blanc you have a treat waiting.

Got half a dozen and looking forward to giving it a try when it's chilled!

UPDATE: Just opened one (well, two actually) and it's REALLY good! Lots more fruit than many of the cheaper NZ Sauv Blancs; quite dry really with some grapefruit in there somewhere. Well worth trying - I'll be chasing some more asap, hope the stock lasts.

Reserving my vote here guys. Asda have sold what seems to be great value Marlborough wines in the past at 4 quid a bottle and it just hasn't made the mark. None of the characteristics you'd expect from such a great region. And nothing like Villa Maria, Montana or Mavern i.e. intense gooseberry. They seem to be jumping at the chance to sell stock with the Marlborough name but without the quality you would expect to come with it.

Opened it now and added a comment in the post. Understand your reservations but it's really good! Hope I can find some more now.

Update. Found another nine in another local store. Noticed they also had some 2009 bottles in the deal but as the good one was 2010 I stuck with them. They really are excellent and way better than other 'bargain' Marlborough SBs I've tried.
