Yes lappy is not to bad price but nothing special, but the desktop is not good value at all and with the cheapest processor upgrade £70 its not worth it. If they had offered an E1500 for like the £10 difference then this may be a deal.
remember if you buy a PC with Vista after 1 July you can get a free upgrade to Windows 7 (all versions except Vista Basic). I would hold off!

or it might be 26 June:

It's the 26th of June, but it's up to Dell if you get the upgrade and how much they'll charge.

I know the dell deal looks pretty good but please be very wary of their customer service and ordering issues. This is personal to me, I waited 8 weeks for a inspiron, during that time I had numerous emails and telephone calls stating that they had lost paperwork etc, everything had to be faxed and not having a fax i could use i had to use the one at the post offiice costing a small fortune.

During this time I had 4 delivery dates, none of them materialised and after 6 weeks i had someone call me to say can i have your card details again because they had lost them and could not process the order, why it took them 6 weeks I dont know, after clarifying who the person was I resubmitted, to be told two weeks later that the computer I ordered was no longer available and they offered me a lower spec one for the same price but would have to go through the whole process again, needless to say they were informed where to put their computer.

Not once did I speak with anyone in the uk, apparently you cant and the language barrier was quite severe in some cases, their is no complaints department and you get passed from pillar to post often having various calls in one day from different people about different things.

I have cut this really short and it doesnt reflect the true problems i have encountered with dell, it may just be a one off with me but would just like to let others know. Hope this helps, I went to Dixons online in the end, got a better deal for better money.
With this going on in Dell Ireland maybe this is why you had problems.

Yet another example of a UK based company moving to Poland.

This is what happens when you allow countries like Poland to join the EU, we lose many of our jobs.

AND we have to pay child benefit to POLISH CHILDREN living in Poland if the Polish father (or mother) is living here in England (did everybody know that?).
the laptop comes with 320gb hd as theres a free hard drive upgrade
whats the main diff between dual core and core 2 duo?

whats the main diff between dual core and core 2 duo?

lifted from

Dual core is simply a generic term referring to any processor package with two physical CPUs in one. The Pentium D, Core Duo, Core 2 Duo and Athlon X2 are all current CPUs that have dual cores in one package.

The Pentium D is simply two Pentium 4 Prescott cpus inefficiently paired together and ran as dual core.

The Core Duo is Intel's first generation dual core processor based upon the Pentium M (a Pentium III-4 hybrid) made mostly for laptops (though a few motherboard manufacturers have released desktop boards supporting the Core Duo CPU), and is much more efficiently than Pentium D.

The Core 2 Duo is Intel's second generation (hence, Core 2) processor made for desktops and laptops designed from the ground up to be fast while not consuming nearly as much power as previous CPUs.

Note - Intel has dropped the Pentium name in favor of the Core architecture as Intel is restructuring and refocusing it's efforts to become number one again (and are doing a fine job, might I add).

The AMD Athlon X2 CPUs have two revisions, the first one is essentially very similiar to the Pentium Ds in that they are simply two Athlon 64 chips fused together, making power requirements quite steep (around 89 watts). The second revision is made more efficiently, like the Core Duos, with much less power consumption (around 65 watts).
