Its not very similar in size and weight.

I am typing on an Adamo at the moment (belongs to my wife) while I wait for the Vostro V131. It is a similar design in some ways to the Adamo but from what I can tell by reviews the Vostro doesn't quite have the bullet proof feel that the Adamo does. The Adamo keyboard is backlit and the size of the keys is great but it's a bit weird to type on with very little travel and almost no gap between them. The Adamo cost us £450 and seems worth it for design, portability and SSD alone. The 1.2GHz ultra low voltage Core 2 Duo CPU seems poor but it copes with RAW photo editing and a bit of multi tasking just fine. To be honest I think the SSD makes up for a lot with this machine and I will be sticking a SATA 6GB/s one in to the Vostro straight away because of my experience with the Adamo!
Benefits of the Vostro V131 over the old Adamo are:
• CPU: 2 generations newer / nearly twice the clock speed / has hyper threading / on chip graphics about 10x faster / not an ultra mobile
• Battery life about double (9.5 hours)
• User Removable RAM (upgradable to 8GB - 1333 DDR3)
• User Removable Hard Drive (SATA 6GB/s - latest SSDs can be taken advantage of)
• User Removable Battery - slimmer (flush) 4 cell hopefully available soon
• USB 3.0 - Getting two USB 3.0 ports is pretty rare even now! (up tp 10x faster than 2.0, unlike eSATA it's powered so 2.5" external drives only need a single cable)
• Spill resistant keyboard
• SD card reader (also reads SD/XC for 64GB cards and above, This will be a nice way to add storage to a 120GB SSD drive)
• HDMI port (Adamo only had a Display port which could be converted of course but a straight HDMI is more useful)
• VGA port (Legacy and old as hell but could be useful for some people)
The thickness / weight / battery life compares to others like this:
• Sony Vaio Z: 1.1kg / 16mm / 7h - (configurable with the fastest CPU of all these) - core i5 from £1434)
• Macbook Air: 1.35kg / 17.3mm / 5h - (Feels thinner than the Adamo but isn't) core i5 from £1100)
• Adamo: 1.75kg / 17mm / 5h - (a monolith) - £450
• Vostro: 1.8kg / 18-21mm / 9.5h (slight wedge + sticky out battery) core i5 from £563
As many people here pointed out there are a slew of Ultrabooks coming out over the next 6 months. These could make the Vostro considerably less appealing but I need a laptop now so it's Vostro time for me although I will be watching the Ultrabooks from Acer, Lenovo, Asus and especially Toshiba closely!!
