I have this printer and would recommend it if you can put up with the size. I would say that the claim to provide 'full toners' is a bit of a red herring. Looking at the specification tab it says up to 1000 pages at 5% coverage which is not the highest possible. The DELL replacement toners do 2000 pages.... so if the specification is right they may don't appear to be 'full' and are no different than if you bought the printer from elsewhere.

However, the price is great and compatible toners are very cheap on Ebay (about £25 a set)

I also bought one a few weeks ago and so far I'm very impressed with it.
Just make sure you follow the assembly instructions, as there's a few bits of protective paper and tags to remove.

The main reason I bought it is it's nice not having to worry about clogged heads anymore, (and the less frequent cartridge changes).

HOT!

£8 delivered for a 2000page refurbished black toner cartridge, now that is what I would call very reasonable.

It's not designed to be a photo printer. Text and vector graphics will print razor sharp on this.

Rubbish.
Some of the best prints Ive had are from this.
Doesn't print on cd/dvd though.

Isn't 600x600 normal resolution for a laser printer?

Been tempted to get one of these for months and this price has finally made me cave in, based on the total cost of ownership with relatively cheap compatible toners in good supply I reckon this is the best bang-for-buck colour laser out there.

Actually put in an order for one of these a few days ago

Ricoh Aficio SP-C231N

with £20 cashback + quidco you were getting a colour laser for under £50. Then I checked out the cost of replacement toner, would have worked out at over £400 for a set of Ricoh originals with very few compatible options out there (they chip the cartridges to stop an easy alternative) - certainly not in the same value bracket as the Dell. Figured it was a good price if you were going to throw it away after it had used up the starter toner cartridges but if you were going to invest in something like this for a few years of light/medium use the 1320cn was far more cost effective.
#12
im tempted but would want 3 year warranty

Got this in the office - print quality excellent, replacement comp toners approx £40 for a set, only downside manual feed guides are not up to ensuring paper straight everytime - important for labels etc. Overall very happy with it

Good deal. I bought this deal a few months back.

great printer and came with 3 sets of dell 1000 toners, although nowadays only 2 sets at £134 delivered.

I just ordered one from ijt

appears to come with 2 sets of dell toners whereas the ebuyer deal comes with only 1 set...slightly better value if they are genuine dell toners, though I was mulling over whether I should order from ebuyer, cheaper to buy initially, and usually good service

Hot!

There is loads of info on this about about how good this printer is
Old hotukdeals post

I just ordered 2 days ago from amazon so missed this deal. :(
#17
Nearly got it from IJT but got put off by the numerous comments about them phoning up regularly trying to flog you toner, plus the cost of the standard sets on the bay (which, ironically, I think are supplied through IJT) , as many have said, is cheap enough to cancel out the price difference. Happier sticking with ebuyer for the customer service which has been good in the past.
#18
Per usual, extortionate prices for delivery to NI.
#19
I have one of these beside me right now, which I bought two years ago from IJT. They were giving them away for a while, if you bought enough toner! It performs well, and the networking and feedback software is great..

True, IJT salespeople do ring up and try to flog you toner, claiming that supplies are running out. The last time they did I explained how they had told me the same story six months previously, and they really ought to get their supply lines sorted. Besides, as a solo user I was not going to buy a new set of toners every few weeks. They haven't bothered me since.

Their non-Dell toners for this machine are good value and good quality and I can recommend them. I just wish Dell didn't ship the printer with half-full cartridges - it's depressingly cynical.

Excellent printer - very happy with it.

But: ...

1) It is enormous. Biggest that I've seen.

2) the on/off switch is at the left/rear/base so i can't put it hard against a wall (which I'd ideally like)

Yep hot from me. I too have this next to me right now on the desk. It's a fair size mind. The print quality is great for what we need/want, general invoices, homework, etc. It's no photo printer but then if like me you're particular about your photos, then you'll get them printed professionally anyway. I have a DSLR but I don't 'print' that many photos. As I say, the ones I do want printed get done at the lab.
On the issue of IJT ringing you up etc, I've never had one single call from them. I used a hotmail account when I signed up and gave my mobile at the contact number, perhaps the mobile costs put them off ringing you. I have had no problems with ebuyer in the past either.
If you want my advice, if you're in the market for a decent everyday printer that can print photos just not to high quality, then don't pass this by, it really is EXCELLENT and at this price it's a steal. Go for it.

EDIT: Just so you know, it doesn't come with the USB lead to connect to your PC so you'll either need to buy one (only a few quid), or use the one from your old printer if you have one. http://www.amazon.co.uk/s/?ie=UTF8&keywords=usb+printer+leads&tag=googhydr-21&index=electronics&hvadid=6613701729&ref=pd_sl_1rga00uii5_b

Also, as this is the 'cn' version, you are able to plug it into your Router via a Ethernet Cable (again, only a few quid: http://www.amazon.co.uk/s/ref=nb_sb_ss_c_1_14?url=search-alias%3Dcomputers&field-keywords=ethernet+cable&x=0&y=0&sprefix=ethernet+cable ). We have ours plugged into the Router and can print off from the laptop, netbook from anywhere in the house.

Yeah, pesky bit of water between you and england...

I was considering buying from IJT when I bought mine but they never bothered to reply to my email regarding their advertising of the printer to clarify which toners I was buying (something like buy 2 sets of toner and get a printer free at the time). I went with Amazon in the end as I knew I would get customer service from them. I would still go the Ebuyer route and then get a set of compatibles which do 2000 sheets as opposed to 1000 from DELL - still cheaper than IJT.

maybe so, but 600dpi is great. Usual LP have 1200 dpi.

No, they can go up to 2400dpi, but the good printers start of 1200dpi

Urgh the 2550 was a god awful printer, not quality wise so much but it was noisy and really clunky and just well bleeeeeeer

des this require any special paper for the best colour printing ? or will normal photocopy/laser paper do ?

bought. cheers

I use cheap 80gsm paper and it seems fine. If I used it in an inkjet and did double sided printing it would be terrible with bleed through. With this laser it is fine. I suspect if you want 'best colour printing' then better paper would be in order though.
#33
great printer, mines been faultless for the last couple of years
#34
Just noticed Oyyy are listing this for £20 less but out of stock:

1320cn at Oyyy

If the ebuyer deal does include the 2000 page toners (anyone emailed them to clarify yet?) that just about balances out, otherwise not sure if it would be worth waiting for Oyyy to get this back in or see what Amazon come up with in the next few days, got me confused now.

[Edit] Forget it, just noticed the missing 'N' - the Oyyy deal is not for the networked version. I'll stick with ebuyer.

As you say clunky yes but quality and reliability wise it's been spot on and never missed a beat!
It's also better with the 250 sheet letter tray so that you don't have the front flap down all the time...

Just out of interest, has anyone ever tried these toner reset things that are sold on Ebay for a fiver or so? Just curious as to whether they worked or are a gimic...
#38
bought one of these just over a year ago from IJT direct with 2 sets of generic toners. Have used this so many times and it prints out excellent quality prints and I'm still using the first set of toners over a year later. This is a steal at this price.

Well hot.

listing at # £132.75inc. vat now! DAMN I MISSED IT!!!

It's a good printer but - its very BIG.
