Again the usual cold voters, this just makes one wonder why bother in future! Dell one of the biggest well known names, laptop - strong spec, price very good in comparison to stuff around. If you are voting cold, then please be kind enough to leave some feedback as to why or even a cheaper dell, cause i cant seem to see a core2duo with 3GB cheaper!

I think the cold votes may be because it seems a bit average. Nothing exiting about it. Bulk standard features and performance.

That was a Christmas sale price and they sold out.

New stock and new deal?

BTW I remember checking this against Dell's own spec for the same money a few weeks ago and found two minor differences.

The Dell 'own' version has a trulite [glossy, dearer] screen and a better [longer lasting] battery. This has only a 4 cell so could only last a couple of hours probably - Dells own was 6 cell I think.

Still a good deal IMHO

I would be more inclined to think the strength of negative attitude might well be related to having to by it from Dixons, a DSG company, rather than it being direct from Dell! :-(

Could be. You can get a slighlty higher spec Inspiron 1525 including the all important 6 cell battery for £449, but that means spending a bit more.

Or a Vostro A860 for a bit less.

Fair deal.
