Very tempting.....nice find. Voted Hot
#2
Yeah looks good to me too :) Nice find! Thanks.
#3
id have to agree, was thinking about a samsung 205bw but id say this one beats it.
#4
I imagine this may be the Easter deal of the day.
#5
This is cheaper than the Dell 20" widescreen. Have Dell got the prices mixed?
#6
No, I think they've set this up as the deal for the 6th and it's just early.
#7
OK. Guess I'll have all day to agonise over this then. I want one...but I'd like the wife to still talk to me.
#8
Wife or monitor, hmmm tough choice.... :p
#9
Great price. I was almost tempted into buying the E520 with this after setting my Dad's up for him yesterday, just for the monitor. Now they are doing the monitor alone for less than £200 I'm definitely going to order one! Thanks johncas.

no, the 20" has a vastly superior specification

Care to elucidate? The E228WFP and the E207WFP look to have identical specs apart from the panel size? (and obviously the dotpitch)
[mod]#12
Well that deal should please a few people ;-)
#13
Yup and make those of that paid far more cry. Definitely a bargain at this price.

I was referring to the 2001FP and 2007FP, I've not looked at the E207WFP specs.

PC Pro reveiw:

Labs winner but recently knocked off buy the samsung as samsung was cheaper by about £50. Now its the other way round, this has got to be the best buy at the moment.

I have one and think its excellent. 2ms no ghosting in games. Ive just come from a 21" crt too.
#17
bargain is all I need to say.
#18
Has anybody used both this monitor and the HP L2045w?

A personal comparison would be most helpful ;o)

Cheers!
#19
After reading reviews this monitor suffers from shadow bleeding when watching DVD's, so out of the question for me...:-(
#20
If you can afford the extra £50-60 the Samsung Syncmaster 226BW is a much better monitor :)
#21
Ouch! My wallet is now £385 lighter thanks to this post... :)

I was very, VERY tempted by the 24" Dell from a couple of days back but simply could not justify spending £400 on a monitor when my old 19" CRT still works just fine - especially when I know that the missus would want one too!

At this price, though, it's a no brainer - sure, it's 2" smaller but it's also half the price!!!! For the sake of 2", I was able to buy TWO of these beauties for the same price! Nett result? The missus and I now both have posh new flatscreen monitors... result!

Big thanks to the original poster for pointing this deal out!
#22
Arrgh! Just bought a PS3 and now very very tempted to replace my 4 year old Dell TFT (a weird 18" model) with this....

Even worse I just found that Dell sell a compatible soundbar for this (AS501PA Soundbar), which would free up even more desk space.

Bah, damn you for posting such a tempting deal! :w00t:

EDIT: But voted Hot non the less ;-)
#23
After resisting the 24 incher the other day i have decided to go for this one too. I do a lot of speadsheet/database work so the wide resolution should come in handy. I will be using it dual screen with my current 19 inch 4:3 ratio TFT. Went through quidco which should be worth about £10 if it tracks ok.

The HP has the advantage of being able to pivot into portrait mode whilst the Dell may be easier on the eyes because of the larger dot pitch size. However the HP £50 cash back offer, direct from HP, is still running. So you can get the HP delivered for a nett cost of under £150 (still in stock at it247.com who are doing free 3 day delivery over the Easter weekend). This is a tough call but the HP does it for me as its 30% less cost than the Dell but far from being 30% less monitor.

I notice there is a review of the HP monitor in this months PC Pro so give you a bit more of a comparison, and a review of the Samsung.:)

Samsung226BW

Im the proud owner of the Dell and im very pleased with it - no dead pixels. There is however backlight bleeding at the top and bottom.

Im not so pleased with paying £40 more 2-3 weeks ago! :? A good find
#26
If your a panel toff, don't buy this monitor. If your into quality buy the 20" 2007fp or 24" Dell's.
#27
Anyone recommend a cheap 'n' cheerful AGP graphics card (ie. sub £50) that will drive this monitor at its native resolution through DVI? I've only got an old Matrox G450 card so I'll have to upgrade...
#28
Very nice price, but since seeing the Samsung 226BW, that's the one I have been after. But the Dell as this price is very tempting....make my mind up time....

EDIT: Ok, having just spent over an hour looking into this one and the Samsung, i'm going to stick with the Samsung 226BW. This Dell is probably a great monitor for the price, but after reading so many user reviews, there seem to be too many with slight complaints about the Dell, and just about none on the Samsung. Ranging from dead pixels to light bleeding. Also found a couple that compared the 2 side by side, and rated the Samsung both times as superior image quality.
So the Samsung it is then, even at about £50 more....I must be mad....:w00t:

Unless I'm mistaken the 22" (E228WFP) Dell is not an Ultrasharp model like the 20" (2007WFP) and 24" Dell (2407WFP) which should explain why there is a price difference between this and the 20" Ultrasharp for those that couldn't work out why.

Cheekster.
#30
i have the 2007wfp ultrasharp

and its ultrasharp!

LOL

I bought this monitor on the 5th of April from Dell,or so i thought. I was first told it would be the 16th of April then told it would be 18th of April then had a phone call this morning to say that it was due to be the 20th of April but they would phone again on the 19th to confirm but it sounded very much that they were going to delay it again.
Looking on the website it says it will be delivered on the 20th but who knows !!!!!!! I know they are so called making this monitor to order but no other supplier would take this long.
Has anyone who bought on this deal actually got the monitor yet????

:? :? :? :?
banned#32
My purchases have been delayed too. Unfortunately this is normal with Dell when they do a promotion like this so don't worry too much :)

I think that you might be dissapointed with the monitor anyway as they do suffer from shadowing. The Ultrasharp range are superb - these are definately not in the same league.
#33
I also placed an order on the 5th April, and my delivery date has also moved from the 16th to the 18th, and then the 20th. I just checked the order status online now, and it says my revised delivery date is for the 15th May!!

Thats diabolical!! I'm going to cancel my order and buy the LG 22" Widescreen from play.com - Its going for £230 delivered but at least its got a built in TV Tuner and will get here this month!!
#34
Me too, revised delivery date May 15 2007 :-(

Not desperate so I'll just have to wait.
#35
Mine was ordered on the special offer day (April 6 I think) and has just been given a revised delivery date of May 15. I have sent an email asking for an explanation as this is a 1 month delay over the original delivery date which is a bit much. I will leave the order in place for now but am keeping my options open if it does take this long to arrive.

I've done the same - I cancelled yesterday, but I preordered the lg from play last week when they were £199. Still, £230 is still a bargain.

Xerox XM3-22WB 22" Widescreen (1680 x 1050 WSXGA+) 5ms 1000:1 Black MultiMedia TFT Monitor 3 Years Warranty £154.79

http://www.hotukdeals.com/forums/showthread.php?t=62358

I've got the Dell with my system but this Xerox is a great price and I am tempted too.
#38
I didn't order the one from Play, as I have to wait even longer for that one. I chased up Dell this morning, and they investigated it. A few hours later I got an email to say that its been dispatched!

I get the impression Dell are sitting around on their 4R53 and need a bit of a push.

If anybody else has their delivery date revised to the 15th May, just ring them up and give them an ear-bashing (the usual stuff you know, threaten cancelling your order, etc, etc)

Good Luck!
#39
I sent them a complaint email after the date was revised to May 15 and just got a call from the courier Western Walsh to arrange delivery for Friday morning! A very strange turn of events, makes me wonder where this new stock has been source from?
#40
Yeah - funny that :s

When I checked the Walsh Western site it said that they tried to call me but there was no answer - I've put down a mobile number so its easy enough for me to verify this, and I can definitely say that there was no missed call received, nor was a voicemail left. Anywho, I simply called up Walsh Western and arranged delivery throught he automated service for tomorrow.

In case anybody else has a similar experience, just give Walsh Western a ring on 08706 06 3355
