added heat due to me being custom pc reader.

Superb screen, got one of these when they were last on promo (maybe 6 months ago) massive display resolution, really bright and clear, can't fault it, especially at this price.. Bargain.. Heat added

At this price I'd also consider the Dell 2209WA, lower resolution but higher quality.

I've had mine since January - a beautiful monitor! The webcam works well too - the screen is so bright, it lights up your face well for the camera! A word of warning though - the microphones are very very quiet and mine have a lot of background noise (buzz/humming) with Windows 7.

Nice resolution.

I am not really interested in the web cam part so it will not bother me! Ordered this morning so should be up and running soon! will make the windows 7 experience a better one i think!

Got the same model back in May for £150 off eBay with a 1 yr warranty off the Dell outlet section

//Want.

You need a dual link DVI cable for that resolution though. Just to let people know.

The monitor comes with a DVI cable, so hopefully its dual link, seems a bit stupid if its not!

Anyone know a slightly cheaper model thats full HD and around 20-21"
23" and that res is a bit overkill for my needs!

I got this last year for £230, it has a HDMI input port and a DVI input port, you can request to have either after ordering. The monitor is brilliant, very bright aswell and it allows you to choose different modes to help with energy saving and tired eyes and multimedia in pitch black.
It should come with 3 year warranty as did mine last year. Do not get anything cheaper as this value reflects the quality. It also has a touch pad on and off button, and touch pad menu. The webcam isnt the best as you have to turn the monitor in the direction you want, but it takes HD photos which is good for all those funny or scary ghost moments that go on.
#13
I guess if you choose to use your own webcam and mic you would just disable the one which is built in??
#14
a montitor? sounds dirrty! :w00t:

It's not the cable that has to be compatible, it's your graphics card. Essentially the card has to be capable of running two monitors off the same port. Most recent cards are capable, but check first otherwise the monitor won't run at its full resolution.

Completely agree, get this now, you won't be disappointed.

Just wondering - can you tell me if it comes with all cables, etc that are needed and if it has built in speakers? As you can tell I am not very knowledgable

No you don't. I've run this a secondary monitor on a Geforce 8800GTX and later a Geforce 285GTX. As mr.velvet states it's down to the card.

I wouldn't bother with PC Specialist, their website is a pain to use in that it doesn't tell you how much each upgrade costs. Try this machine from DinoPC;

http://www.dinopc.com/shop/pc/21-004-AMD-Phenom-II-DDR3-Multimedia-PC-93p625.htm

Add Windows 7 Home Premium and upgrade the case to the Antec Three Hundred and you're ready to go for £566.84! The PC will be very powerful and more than capable of handling any game out at the moment, and most with the eye candy turned up fully (I own a similar system and I can assure you, it's no slouch ;)). If you want to spend the full £700 then upgrade the graphics card to an ATi Radeon HD 5850, it'll run every game out there on it's highest setting :)

Oh, it's also worth mentioning that Dino throw in a 3 year warranty and will price match anyone. Quite impressed with them to be honest, always built my own systems but my brother placed an order a couple of months back and they've been very good! Makes me wonder whether I'll bother building again...
#23
Nice kit but make sure you can live with the very strange resolution (width in particular). I found it impossible to get my head around afer being used to 'normal' PC resolutions (eg 1920x1200 or 1680x1050).
#24
we have a few of these at work, cheap as chips but they are not adjustable up and down...
#25
It says height adjustable on the Tech specs ??
#26
I hope that's not correct, according to this review (http://reviews.cnet.co.uk/monitors/0,39030120,49301265-1,00.htm it's adjustable up to 4 inches, another reviewer mentioned how the display can almost sit on the stand.

I'll be a little miffed as I too have just purchased one, also went through quidco, don't know if that will track though.
#27
sorry I meant to say they pivot up and down but don't slide up and down like I'd prefer them to - something my Samsung and NEC do.
#28
how does a ps3 at 1080p look on this monitor?
#29
scruffty - these move up and down - but i see what you mean about sliding. the very similar model (S2309W) doesn't - it just tilts - they look the same except the SP has a wider bezel with a web cam in.

Op - thanks for posting this - been after one for a while and at this price, i cant resist!
#30
I just ordered one.... thanks:thumbsup:
#31
does anyone know how 1080p will look on this monitor?
#32
Thanks, ordered one.
#33
This is a really good deal on paper but 23" is just weird. If this was 24" then it would be a definite buy for me.
#34
reduced to £175.20
#35
Hmmm, £15.53 Quidco tracked, I love it when a bargain gets better and better!

Hey guys,

Sorry for the epic bump! I'm just wondering what length of warranty you guys got? I was about to buy this for £198 (after Quidco), but then I came across this damn thread, where you guys picked it up for ~£150.

I'm wondering (hoping :p) if you guys only got a 1 year warranty which would explain the huge price delta!

Cheers,

Su
