I was tempted until I saw

a)The processor wasn't Dual Core

b)No upgrade path for the graphics

Shame really, as it is a excellent price but just not right for my needs

What are the benefits and limitation of the dual core compared to this processor?
What about the graphics..... are they really necessary if u are not much into games?
Thanks

If you price the 17" screen and speaker set it leaves £200 or less for everything else inc the OS, I think Dell can come close to that price but with less frills.

On board graphics are fine for everyday tasks, surfing/spreadsheets etc and will play some games as well but not the power hungry ones.
The processor wont matter much either if your just using the machine for office like duties, its when you want to start rendering heaps of video footage and the like that the later cpu's come into their own.
The 3100 isnt really designed to have a video upgrade path, whereas the 5150 can have up to a 256meg card from dell or fit your own (cheaper and sometimes better)
Oh and welcome to the forums Dhan

The 3100 is not the machine for you if you want to play any games, and if all you want is to surf the web or do WP then £367 seems a bit on the steep side.

Thanks for the deal, unfortunately when I tried the deal on Dell website, the price turned out to be £449. Here is the link http://configure.euro.dell.com/dellstore/config.aspx?b=&c=uk&cs=ukdhs1&l=en&oc=D09316&rbc=D09316&s=dhs&sbc=ukdhsrsdimen_3100_2

Did I do something wrong?
Please help me soon. Thanks very much

The boy dun good!

If you add that little lot up as on line upgrades it would cost you £786 so you got a good deal there for your negotiating. Do you have any leverage with Dell ie a business that uses them or did you just use the power of the general public to beat them down?
Glad it worked out for you and as always pleased to help when I can.

No leverage, just usual take it or leave it style lol
I thought it was a good deal based on what was on offer.
Im well pleased now that u have approved as well ..... thx again much appreciated.:)
