OK, I do not want to copy marketing stuff from Dell website (we are the best and so on; you know the drill), so here is some tech info:

* 600 x 600 dpi - up to 2400 Image Quality
* Standard capacity black toner cartridge (approximately 2000 pages) and approximately 1000 pages for each colour toner cartridge (cyan, magenta and yellow)
* 900 sheets (150 multipurpose tray standard + optional 250 sheet drawer + optional 500 sheet drawer)
* Maximum 45 000 pages per month- duty cycle
* Hi-Speed USB 2.0 port. Ethernet 10/100 BaseT port (cables not included)
* High-performance print speed up to 5 A4 pages per minute in colour, 25 ppm in monochrome
* LCD operator panel displays toner level and status of other consumables
* Network connectivity

Basically, this is small workgroup unit (office kind of thing) and not standard home machine. The price seems to be good although I didn't research it enough. Yes, it is possible to buy cheaper printers, but networked ones are not that cheap unfortunately.

To get this price, remove USB cable from package - who in sound mind going to pay 12 quid for it anyway?

The 5% off coupon R7RFVQV91PSVMC works on this (the other one does not) thereby bringing the price down to £186.72. Quidco will knock off another £7.45 so potentially £179.27! :viking:

There is something terribly wrong with those specifications. 2000 pages from a toner cartridge? That is really small, maybe it is just a starter cartridge but otherwise you are going to spend a fortune on toner. 40,000 pages a month? So you are going to buy 20 cartridges a month are you? Maybe its a missprint but I would not spend that kind of money on a printer that expensive to run.

These are typical specs for a desktop colour laser. The toner yields are small but that's to keep the foot print down and the companies revenue up! If you're doing a lot of colour laser work then you should buy accordingly.

The duty cycle rating is basically an indication of how much stick the printer engine can take. 45,000 is quite high for a personal/small network printer but not wildly so.

Manufacturers use the same engines in different models so you may well find this one in a printer with double the yield carts and double the ppm (for example).

If you look at other similar printers (Oki C3200, Canon LBP-5000) then you'll find similar specs.

45000 pages equates to 90 reams of paper (18 boxes)

To be fair, this probably isn't the correct printer for anyone who plans to print that amount per month.

How much does it cost for refills ?

I phoned Dell direct this morning and got one for £176 with a free three year warrantee. Bargain.
