Following my earlier post:
http://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/dell-core-i7-laptop-i7-720qm-6mb-l3/764043

Thanks to HUKD Brilly and Twinkle for highlighting Dell Signature event - this machine has difft lower spec than earlier - 4MB not 6MB; only the 15.6" High Definition (1366x768) WLED screen not Full HD; No Blu Ray player; but includes backlit keyboard - but much cheaper £179.31 lower for the an Intel Core i7 machine if the other spec is less relevant to you

Added Intel wireless card £10 and Backlit Keyboard £30 to get base price across the £949 headline price before using voucher Used code: 7F34MQP095XKC2 to get 10% off systems from £949

personally I think this is a great deal for a core i7 laptop but I'd pay the extra £179.31 for the other deal http://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/dell-core-i7-laptop-i7-720qm-6mb-l3/764043 as my budget can stretch to the £813.42 for the spec that includes:

- Widescreen Full High Definition (1920 x 1080) WLED with TrueLife
- Blu Ray internal player
- 6MB instead of 4MB

(although backlit keyboard is an extra £30 minus circa 16% from coupon and quidco)

Either deal seems good and can be configured to personal requirements/budget.

Why are most laptops/desktops now coming with a 64-bit O/S? I bought a HP from ebay and found to my horror when setup it was 64-bit and the majority of my 3-year-old software won't even install. Those that do install run as if on an old 486! Why not offer a choice of both instead? I know you are limited with the RAM but do you but it isn't *always* needed (friend upgraded from 2Gb to 6Gb and he sees no difference for the programs he uses).

4MB ram not 6MB

4MB ram seriously :O thats alot ;)

oops corrected! thanks Treab :)

Why has this been expired? Still available until 29 Sep?

Isn't that video card a bit underpowered for a machine with a processor as fast as that?
#10
unfortunately during configuration on the Dell site there wasn't an alternate video card option offered than this HD5470 Graphics Card

That was my point - Dell have specced a machine with a superb processor and a seriously weak graphics card (in comparison).

Biglugs thx - what day to day impact could you envisage for the regular user like me: I don't play games on there but multitask with many web pages open at once, some office programs open simultaneously and sometimes watch HD movies (although not at same time on that last one!)?

Appreciate any guidance please.
