Just phone and tell them the situation and ask for a discount, if they wont, cancel and reorder.
#9
Thanks Mike. They will be giving this one away soon

Too slow.. back up to 469 and the screen dropped to 20''
#11
Done that. They are ringing me back when properly open. The alternative to the 0870 number that works, if anyone needs it, is 01344 383700.

Hi Mike, what's the earliest time you can get these deals at the lower price/higher spec?
[mod]#18
Change happens some time after 6am
#19
MikeT are Dell playing silly ******s this morning or what? For example I purchased code D04E02 for £210 inc VAT delivered 3 weeks ago, this then went up to £270 and has now gone up to £330 today. Seems that they have messed up on the delivery charges so i would expect there to be some corrections during the course of the day.
[mod]#20
They are correcting now and making my job hard too! Nasty lot, I much prefered the stonking bargains I saw earlier.
#21
Seems that some of the codes are still available for less on the small business pages if you're quick.
[mod]#22
DSR dont apply the same there so dont want our members putting themselves at risk over on SB if I can help it, but thanks anyway PNE
#23
Quite agree..best wait till Dell get over their hangovers

How much did you manage to get the 24" for?
#28
Also, I wouldnt advise upgrading the graphics card to the ATI x1300, it is in the same league as the GF7300.

A better thing to do would be to just buy one from somwhere like ebuyer for £60 odd. Get at LEAST a GF7600 or ATI x1600.

I don't like to be negative about peoples deals but I'm going to be on this occasion.

Why do all of these many many many dell deals need to be posted. Are they not all freely available to anyone browsing the dell website. Do we not all know that Dell are cheap. I'm not looking for a PC at the moment and to scroll through so many Dell PC deals is becoming tedious. Especially when 10% of the deals are HOT!

Rant over. No personal offense meant Mike

Mike does a great job. The truth is that these deals are often quite hidden and you need to know the evalue code to get the best deal. I don't know why Dell make some of them so inaccessible but that's the way it is and Mike helps us all out by exploring all the options when they change every thursday.

As for "having" to scroll through so many Dell deals - oh you poor thing!! Go give your scrolling finger a warm bath to sooth it!

First time I have dealt with Dell and I have to say that the customer service so far has been excellent. I e-mailed them this morning when Mike posted the £418 offer as my PC was still pre-production to see if they would match the price. By the time I sent the e-mail the price had gone up, yet I still got an e-mail offering me £30 off if I would keep the order, even though by then the price had gone up for an inferior PC. I e-mailed back to accept this (obviously!) and got another very quick response thanking me for keeping the order with them! Brilliant and thanks Mike - I don't mind going through your posts at all!

This site is about finding BARGAINS, right? Hence the name. The whole ethos of this site is to help people find items cheaply. Not everybody will go on the dell website will they if they are looking for a new computer. Mike knows what he is doing when it comes to computers, and i can back that statement 100% If you only want "HOT!" deals, look at the front page.

Actually all the Amazon online deals can usually be found by browsing the Amazon website, all the Tesco online deals can be found by browsing the Tesco website, all the Argos online deals...... need I go on?
The whole point of THIS website is that people are given information about deals they may not have been aware of, and often for items they weren't thinking of buying because they thought they were too expensive. Then a deal comes along which is too good to be true.
If people like MikeT didn't keep bringing to our attention the good deals, this would be a pretty crap forum wouldn't it?

I've just tried the same thing as I only ordered the other offer at about 1am last night. If Dell won't price match it for me, do you mind if I quote your details as a 'friend in a similar position'? (If so, I'll let you know what know what happens via PM)

To MikeT: Please keep up the good work!

Ok a brief reply from me on this subject. Firstly thank you for all the kind comments.
The Dell site updates each Thursday at sometime after 6am so I get here rain or shine for around 5:30am and drag out the ecodes/specs/prices from Dell just as soon as they post them on their site. Now there are just over 100 different ecodes to go through and one criteria is price as I keep a list of last weeks pricing/spec to check by, if the price has dropped by £60 or more I flag it and check the spec. If its a good deal it gets posted even if the spec is less than before if the price has dropped it may now be in someones price range now.

Today Dell errored and underpriced a fair few desktops so I posted them quickly for members to grab while they were hot, later the prices got adjusted upwards, so I adjusted the deal prices too but left the deals on the board because the way it works is if the members dont like the deals they will drive them off the board by voting cold, so they dont hang around long if they are not good deals.
When Dell repriced twice today I found other units that had been dropped in price so I picked a couple from the list that I thought deserved a mention and posted them, again the membership will drive anything not worthy from the board quite quickly but a lot of the members like to be able to look through the codes that they cant see on the front page of Dells site.

I could just post one or two deals a week but again its member driven and I get asked time and time again to put deals up so I do.
There may have been a period early today when it looked like a dell site but they soon get spread out or dropped down.

There now, that was a brief reply wasnt it ;-)

Glad you're still smiling. Most of us appreciate the effort you put into listing the Dell deals, long may you continue to do so. :)

I'm interested in them, so are many others, particularly as Dell's prices change so often it's difficult to keep an eye out for a good deal. If you don't like them, don't read them.
