Now the next ecode up from this is with Intel Viiv™ Core™ 2 Duo E6600 Processor (2.4GHz,1066MHz,4MB cache) CPU but if you choose that cpu with this ecode it works out £28 cheaper.

Also available with Genuine Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005 - English click Here

Hi Mike,

Not sure if this is a great deal. You can customise the Vostro base unit you posted a while back to almost the same spec as this for £155 less. Leaves you a bit spare to upgrade the graphics card etc if you want to. I have read the 8600 card supplied with the 9200 is easily betten by several sub-£100 cards (ie. ATI 1950 pro).

Is there anything else that you feel makes the 9200 particularly good value? Dell always seem to be rather vague in their details about quality of memory, motherboard etc...

Keep up the good work though! Speccing up Dell systems can be addictive. :)

Some members were interested in the last 9200 I posted last week so I thought it best to post this as its a price drop, it may seem expensive compared but this is a full height case (the Vostro is a mini tower) so has more room for all that kit ;-) and the psu will cope!
As usual I give the deals and you guys can vote them either way.

Have to vote this one cold then I'm afraid. Others may differ in opinion but I think there are much better value deals out there at the moment.

If you are confident enough to want to tinker with a system then you can build your own for the same or less and get to hand pick your own components. If, on the other hand, you are just after a system which you don't have to touch I don't think the added case size, PSU etc with the 9200 are going to be of much use.

The only problem with this deal is not being able to select the '1 Year Base Warranty' radio button and watching the price tumble - must be a psychological thing.

I have tried to make this deal close to the 9200 one I was looking at on Wednesday before it's offer ran out. Unfortunately this works out £201 more (even without Vista Business).

MikeT, I keep checking this site in the hopes I'll get a suitable desktop soon and appreciate all your postings. Keep 'em coming.

Thanks MikeT. Will check them out. My only worry now is whether it's worth checking prices when we get back from hols. I don't want to find I've ordered and delivery will be while I'm away  .
