This is much cheaper than the deal I've just ordererd, how are dell with cancelling orders and re-ordering the cheaper system?

It only includes a 160Gb HD as opposed to 250Gb and doesn't include MCE 2005, are these bit's worth the £65 difference?
#2
90gb hdd and MCE worth it as MCe gets free vista upgrade :)
You'll appreciate the extra space. though it is easy enough to add with all the low cost external drives around.

Yeh, I thought that after I posted plus slightly more quidco discount :D .

Yeah MCE gets an upgrade to the Vista Home Premium too.

There was last week, not sure whether it is still valid though (Dell EValue Code - 307 d11e16).

Downgrade Service to 1 year collect and return. Upgrade processor from 3800+ to 4200+

Price should be £535 then go through quidco for £30 discount approx.

What is the real difference between XP and media centre?
Priced up this system and the one at £569 from a few days ago. This version is cheaper except for the change in opperating system, will this be noticeable?

Cheers

Media center is added into XP home to make the user interface more user friendly when being used in the living room as a multimedia center, so you can easily navigate through video's, music, photo's etc. Underneth its still XP home.

The previous spec price was £535. Plus it gave you a free upgrade (apart from P&P) to Vista Home Premium early in the new year. You can also use MCE with 3rd Party programs to stream DivX/Xvid videos wirelessely to your 360 (with wireless adapter/wireless router).

Thanks for this. Ideal for game crazy son on a low-ish budget!

On all of these Dell deals the graphics cards are what lets the system down - a 7300 turbocache is hardly worth having and any gamer will want to rip it out and throw it away. Good system though.

yeah. My son upgraded to the Radeon graphics card for an extra £24. Still seemed a good bargain.

cedge, Im in the same boat as you - I bought the same system. It would have been better to have waited to some extent, but the bigger hard drive, and the lack of the free Vista Premium upgrade means this deal is only marginally better than before (maybe £30 or so). So Ive decided not to worry too much :o)

Good luck with your new system. :)

There is always going to be a slightly better deal around the corner, but you have to go for one sooner or later and ignore anything that comes along just after, be happy with your current good deal.
If you wait for just the right one you will wait for ever ;-)

A family member has actualy order (for xmas present for someone) and im looking forward to checking it out to make sure everything is ok.

We opted for the 7300 card as the performance increase in the 1300 is'nt really worth the extra £24 so planning on buying a ATI 1650 XT or Nvidia 7600 GT (from somewhere eles) as this should definatly make the PC a worth while buy.

Total price for the above would be around the £560 marker and thats damn good i think for a PC which would be able to pretty much handle most games on reasonable high settings.

Thanks for the heads up on the great deal

PS
The PC does not include speakers so plan on buying some also.
