This deal was originally posted by Twinkle for £270 with 19"TFT but some may have missed the various options available to get a cheap monitor so here it is again but its £293.82 now with 19" TFT

26 July Update: the deal has risen in price now from £188 to £211 thats a 11% rise so its not the deal it was but I have been asked to keep it running with the higher price so have altered the prices to suit.

You can of course reduce the warranty to minimum and remove the monitor to buy just the base for £211
Or add monitors like the 22" widescreen for + £158.

great bargain thanks :)
its got decent specs for a basic pc

the last one i got has a faulty fan, i think i'll die before dell arrange for a refund, repair takes 7 - 10 business days as does an exchange (which they dont seem to liek to offer as option). Its so difficult to get through to them!!!!

Made the mistake of waiting. If you purchased one of these last Wednesday you got the system with the silver 19" widescreen for £270.00. What we really need is a FREE delivery voucher code! Anyone got any discount codes we could use against this? Don't forget your 4.5 quidco.
#5
Note if you sell these on you can't transfer the warranty for the monitor to a different person than the base unit.

I.e. you'll lose the warranty for one when you split the unit up.

wow what a bargain.

Billy bargain! I don't suppose these are available with XP instead? I've looked but can't find one.

Yes they are. I found a posting somewhere within HUKD yesterday that offered them with XP HOME. You can't even buy the parts for this price!

Sell the Vista COA plus reinstallation CD for £30 and buy XP yourself

(And I got a similar spec system but with a AMD 4000+ X2 and 19" widescreen the brand new silver model for £285. Sold the monitor within 24 hours for £130!)

YES ! you can get XP !

Just add 'XP' on the end of any of the Dell PC Model Number.

e.g. D07C12 will be D07C12XP

Here's the link for it anyway with XP :

worth paying extra for Vista premium ??
[mod]#14
Hope you dont mind meco, just put the xp link in as a clicky on your post

I think you will find dell quite flexible with warranty on systems you split, you would need to be a little inventive , like the base unit is at my mates home and its faulty please come and fix it. Does rely on you either selling locally or to someone with you being the go between for any warranty work. ;-)
#16
I just got one so thanks!

One quick question, I didn't see if it came with a wireless card. Are they standard these days or will I have to get one? I haven't bought a PC in years!

Thanks

Great specs for the money and Dell's monitors are usually good at worst

#25
You can't remove the mouse unless you are buying a Keyboard and Mouse bundle!

You are just so greedy!

You cant have one without the other, dell wont let you buy the base without a mouse.
#27
point noted. its jutst that i didnt want one. no other reason. thanks mike.
#28
I've not read the entire thread but I know when I was at work purchasing Dell computers very reguarly, the monitor had to stay with the base in order for the warranty to be valid. To get around this, we had to purchase monitors and bases seperately and pay a little more!
#29
I'm so tempted but I've no excuse to order this plus the laptop. He'll kill me....LOL

is thjis ok for a media cente?E!

Hi, I was wondering if anyone could help me at all. I'm looking for a decent graphics card that would work with this machine rather than taking the ones that dell offers. I don't really want to spend hundreds on one so cheap is good (Hey isn't that why we are all here :D)

Hope someone can help!
Thanks

as you prob know, you need a low-profile card for this slim unit, which limits your choice. google for choices and then check on ebuyer.com - i know they have some as I've just ordered one for my c521. however, i've gone cheap and ordered a card that prob won't be great if you're a big gamer (which i'm not, obviously).

XFX 6200 TurboCache 128MB DDR2 supporting 512MB DVI VGA TVO PCI-E Graphics Card ebuyer quickcode - 128916 Total price = £19.38 del (super saver). I think I'll need to buy a bracket for this too (about £4-£5) but am waiting till it arrives next week to see. Let me know if you need to be kept informed.

where do you buy the brackets from? I have a Creative X-Fi xtremegamer sound card which is a low profile card which came with a normal sized bracket :x , but I cant get a bracket for it, the 2 that creative customer services have sent me dont fit it.

http://www.scan.co.uk/ -- phone them and they'll be able to confirm it fits.

Also note, if you are planning to go for the 24" monitor you need at least a 8600GTS graphics card to display at high res.
#37
Well I'm looking for a card that will play games at a decent level. I don't need everything maxed out etc but I would like to be able to play games like Oblivion.

I don't know too much about graphics cards etc so i'm not too sure what i'm looking for. How can I find what will be compatible with this machine (eg the power it uses etc)

Thanks!
#38
I've ordered this really good deal and opted for the 20" wide screen monitor (E207WFP) and kept the integrated graphics (Nvidia GeForce 6150 LE) AND ordered the XP version.

Will I still be able to get the maximum resolution from the monitor with this set up?

Any thoughts would really be appreciated.

Thanks

Depends on the game but it's not going to be a good gaming system with that graphics card and a high resolution monitor.

You will have to set the resolution to low (800x600 for example) in more demanding games and it will look poor on your higher resolution screen.. Ironically, a smaller (resolution) screen makes games look better when the in-game resolution is set lower.

Thanks for the quick reply. I bought the PC as a second "email / web browsing / kids homework" machine, so gaming is not a priority for me (might be for the kids but tough!:giggle: Will it be ok for this low level stuff?
