Thanks Mike :) Nice spec and very reasonable price!

do you know much about computers rayman??
good price for them high specs
Not a bad price, for those that want to compare AMD to Intel:
i have a pentium 4, 3.06 ghz, but this is 2.4ghz??? does this mean this is slower???
I am willing to get my hands dirty on a Dell at the moment but not sure whether the deal will be outrun next week. Im after a larger monitor too, do Dell do many offers with larger screens? The 22" monitor deal looked awesome but just missed it!

This looks like a good one to me.

Just bear in mind that Dell are actively promoting the need for 2gb of ram if you want to use Vista.

Which this system has..........except the graphics card leeches system ram to accomplish it's claim of being a 256mb card.

So it's gonna run'll need to spend £80-£90 more on a grown up graphics card.

Are you sure this isnt what you have? Intel Celeron D Processor 347 (3.06GHz) if it is the this is much faster, even if its a P4 3Ghz cpu then this is still quicker (2 cores)

The Athlon 64 X2 4600+ is a dual-core 64-bit processor - so although it only runs at 2.4GHz you have effectively got two processors. Which for todays modern multi-threaded apps and games is a big increase over a single CPU (even if it does have hyperthreading enabled.)
Also the way AMD's architecture work, the 4600+ means it runs on par to an equivalent Intel Pentium 4.6ghz processor. At least that's what they claimed when they first introduced these numbers upon creating the Athlon XP series of processors.

So yes it is a heck of a lot faster mate.

Taking a look here

I would say the Athlon is gonna be faster.

However, if you are in the market for a new PC, I think there may be better deals. As ever, it really depends what you are going to use it for. For Vista, I would strongly recommend making sure you get 2GB though (especially if you are going to play demanding games).
The fact that the Windows Vista included is only the 32 Bit version makes it less of a good deal.

I was planning on getting a Dell when they had a good deal going and taking the components out and putting them in a new case with a decent motherboard, as it would be cheaper than buying or building one with the same specs.

Then I found out they only offer the 32 Bit version of Vista, so decided against it.
On ebuyer the 64bit version is no more expensive than the 32bit version for system builders so I don't understand why they are shipping with the 32bit version, its just plain wrong.
It is done because of software issues. If you think Vista 32bit is bad, you do not want to even use the words 64 bit never mind implement them into your life.
anyone know how many PCI slots this thing has.

Getting tempted by Dell!
