#4

#5

CANCEL.is my recommendation..this is real VFM...and if you want gaming upgrade the graphics card for about £60 (a 7600GT would be fine if you're on a tight budget)

Well, i've gone and ordered it! I weren't as lucky as you though mate - I tried it on but the (foreign) guy was having none of it. Wouldn't budge on the price at all. I was on 11 minutes and at 10p /minute I weren't going to ring back. So I decided to do it through Quidco instead online. Hopefully i'll get over a tenner back this way instead. Dont want to wait another week or 2 though - i've been waiting a week already for the one i've just cancelled :-(

Kudos to MikeT for this - cheers mate! BTW, I want to vote HOT for this, but dont know how. I tried clicking HOT on the page but it seems unresponsive.

Two questions guys,
1) Is it worth while upgrading the processor or the screen (moneywise) or is that just what they want you to do?

2)How do I access that particular deal through quidco?

Thanks in advance
#15
Would you recommend this for Photoshop?

Buy it as it is, best value for money. If you want to upgrade the screen go for an ultrasharp ££ but nice screens.

Copy the ecode from the original post and then sign into your Quidco account, click through to dell from there, find the "shop by ecode link and enter the ecode into the boxes. Build your dell....Buy and sit back ;-)

Thanks Mike T I ordered one for a friend.

This looks a great deal, how does this processor compare to a intel dual core for speed and performance? thanks

good move there mate..as for the HOT voting ..I expect that your voting power is zilch until you build up some rep ...i.e more green blocks...we all have to start on that basis.

very good deal think i might grab one of these :D also is the E521 system the slimline one? meaning less room to upgrade you graphic's card and so on?
#22

Many thanks, from what I can work out a core 2 duo 2130 is about the same as a 5000+, they don't have a 1800 or 1860 on the list but looking at the speeds of the 4400+ I would think they would be comparible, I've always had Pentium before but looking at this deal it is very tempting to move accross

E521 is AMD powered, E520 is Intel and C521 is the slim case requiring half height cards

I did the same as you AMD -> Intel and happy but times have changed and you no longer have eggs boiling on the AMD heat sinks with 6 fans trying to keep them cool!
Much of a muchness, quiet cases these days and the AMD followers will tell you the cpu's are not much different to Intels either. Check the side bar in my blog for tables on cpu's

Cheers Mike, seems to be 2 of that flavour od AMD X2 4400+. One 'toledo' and one 'windsor'.
Gonna 'retire' my 5150 to beta the new MS home server software.. so need a replacement. You thing the GFX card upgrade is worth the £11? :)

Cheers mike, checked them out and it appears that the ATI card used its own memory and the nvidia uses shared etc.
IS this offer likely to end soon as i'm dithering about deciding?

It will end in 2 weeks time I think but dont worry as they are like bus's, always another around the corner ;-)

I wouldn't worry because if you want to do any graphical work which requires a decent card (like playing 3D games) you'd be better off throwing these cards away and buying yourself a decent one. If you aren't doing any graphics work these cards will be ok anyway.

Gone for it with better keyboard and gfx card. £370 all in.

Thanks once again to MikeT

is this worth upgrading the graphics card from
256MB nVidia® GeForce® 7300 Turbocache graphics card to the
256MB ATI® Radeon® X1300 Pro PCI Express graphics card?

It's only £11.75 extra???

I did when i ordered mine. Just more or less give the OS all the ram rather than sharing it with the gfx. According to what info i can gather its a little faster.
#35
Cheers for sharing, my dad is gonna be ordering one of these for me with a few upgrades, and the basic one for himself :)

That is tempting, I need a desktop and already have a dell monitor.
#38
Is the 20" monitor upgarde worthwhile for £35, I was thinking of just getting the standard one and selling it and buying a samsung 206bw, but if the Dell 20" is any good I might go for that instead, thanks

I phoned dell and the offered this system with a upgrade to vista premium and upgrade to 5000+ processor for £300 inc vat and delivery without the monitor which I am seriously considering although it would be £440 with the Dell 20" wide monitor which is also tempting, oh decisions decisions

Any chance of a free delivery code? £60 is a bit too much!
