Don't forget Quidco for extra percentage points too.

I bought one of these systems back in January. I work in IT and this is one of the best designed systems I have ever had to work with. I am 100% happy.

Card is bottom of the range 8800, but it is a good deal, the xps 720 also has £300 off its price, but they aren't great specs with the new 9600/9800 gtx cards out now.

Card is bottom of the range 8800.

The bottom of the range is the 256MB version but this has the 512MB version; useful for higher resolutions.
#6
Yes agreed, but as far as models go not RAM you have the GTS and GTX ahead of this, not to mention the new 9800 GTX - but at this price for a base gaming machine its still a good deal I think. I'm not sure the GTS/GTX is even 'that' much better, I've yet to look into it!
#7
Hmm, i'm in the market for a new PC, but this one doesn't seem to be getting very hot
#8
I'm after one too peodude, I dont mind the card, and ram even, but I think im going to go for quad core for the future...

I bought this one in January and I'm not impresed at all. The TV tuner has stopped working. I need to build up the energy to speak to Dell about it because my past experiances haven't been good. For the spec of the machine it should fly but it doesn't! I think most of the problems are with Vista

Dell sucks! why cant you build your own PC's a 11 year old can do it! This prob comes with some cheap 350 watt psu anyways. It doesnt even look nice and you can't overclock this bad boy! Its at 3ghz you could easy get this to 4ghz! So unless your brain damaged or have ero time on your hands why not build your own pc? Its cheaper! Hope dell burns in hell!

So are you voting it cold because it's not a good deal/price or because you hate Dell for some unspecified reason?

As to building your own. I could and have in the past yet, would not choose to. I would also defy you to build your own for this price (with those same components). And that's without your time. Let alone the piece of mind that will be important for most buyers that if something goes wrong they have one place to turn.

I've been looking at reviews on the XPS 420 and they mention a Sideshow Screen on the top on the base unit. Does anyone know if this has got it??

I think you will find all XPS 420's have the sideshow.

I dont think he's doing you any favours, this deal as posted but with 750GB drive would cost £557 after coupon, delivered online. Then there is quidco cashback to come off too!.
If you go for the quad deal I cant configure that one on line without a monitor or with that graphics card but bear in mind that the quad will only come into its own when software is written to use it, in other circumstances the E8400 may well be quicker.
#18
I've just been back on and realised about the E8400 one, it was just the Quad Core I really needed comparing to be honest but I'm thinking of shying away from it.
