A nice looking monitor Mike. I bought a XPS420 recently I'd love this to go with it but funds are tight

Its a Hottie from me!

So tempting... Would buy two for a nice dual screen setup! But.. holiday soon - the misses will kill me :(

I would prefer to get this for £5 cheaper, which also has a higher spec:

It is a good screen for general use, but suffer a lot of screen bleed from the edges and is not the best for gaming. For the price it is a great deal and I am considering getting a second.

I have a 20" version at this resolution with a different panel (mine was £330) and it's neat

The 22" is only a TN panel is not so good for watching films, the 24" has a superior panel with better colours and higher viewing angle. Still a good deal though

For a cheaper alternative, Same Specs:Different Price:) Hope it's useful for people on a lower budget looking for a very good budget monitor!!

Thanks Heat added MikeT

I wouldn't recommend this panel, the quality isn't great.

Yeah you pretty much get what you pay for with monitors in my experience

I'm just in the process of returning one of these as I found text lacking in sharpness and suffering some bleed - perhaps I just had a duff one. A shame as I liked its looks and solid build quality.

Can anyone recommend a good alternative that will give me nice sharp text?

Can anyone recommend a good monitor review site please?

I own 2 of these and run them dual screen on my XPS 420. Nice setup for reasonable price. No doubt you can get better if you pay more but for the money they are very good.

I bought one about a year ago for around £190. The second was bought a few months ago for about exactly the current price. My first is a Rev 01 and the second a Rev 02. I noticed running them side by side that the older one is brighter with them both set to exactly the same settings. Both are running via DVI. I have increased the settings on the new monitor so they roughly match now.

Actually, the 24" version of this is the E248WFP which also has a TN panel. Are you thinking of the 2408WFP Ultrasharp with the samsung S-PVA panel?

Unfortunatly, I don't think you can get great at this resolution for under £300.

If text doesn't look sharp then make sure you are running at the default resolution for the monitor (which is probably 1680x1050). If you run in a lesser resultion then it'll look as you described. Never used to have this issue with CRTs :-)

Sorry if this is old news to you.

I did have it running at native resolution connected via DVI.

Auto-adjust is not available when connected by DVI. I tried to compare the display when connected via VGA but I couldn't get the native resolution to be available via the display driver even after installing the inf file.

I got this monitor in an earlier deal (January, posted here) at £163.33 delivered, further £6.70 off via Quidco. An excellent monitor when compared to models up to £300.

PC-Pro Review
At £259, the E228WFP is the most expensive of the 22in models, but it comes with a three-year on-site warranty and has the best image quality.

looks like 210ukp to me.....

i've been looking for a wide 22" for a while (already got a couple of non-widescreen 19's) and every one seems to have its detractors (and not just a few!) i'm starting to think 22" must be the size where the manufacturers start scrimping on quality of parts etc.

i'd prefer one with plenty of inputs and a tv tuner of sorts, been looking at these two and their digital equivalents, was 90% set on the samsung, but then found some very bad reviews about them being ok monitors but for tv use they are rubbish:
