Gah - that's just mean. Absolute bargain if your after a 24" HD monitor! It does have a very large footprint though so not brilliant for small desks, plus trying to run the latest games at 1920x1200 will be beyond some graphics cards. Must.. resist.
#4
would the monitor be good for gaming? anyone has this beauty?

I had 20" version long time ago, also 16ms and games were OK, had also PIP, POP which was cool but I had to return it because of bad bleeding.
#5
bkpetr it should be with the 6ms response time, little to no backlight bleeding and no ghosting, HDCP compliancy, 1000:1 contrast ratio AND 16.7 million colours - they do look stunning (though sadly I don't have one yet myself).
Short of going for the dell 30" monitor or the apple/ benq 24" beauties (the latter with HDMI) you aren't going to do better.

:whistling:I just could not resist any longer....:p

Don't blame you - I'm sorely tempted but I know I shouldn't. Are they shipping A04 revisions or is this offer an exercise in clearing out the older stock? I wouldn't touch those with a barge pole.
#9
i got one of these about a month ago, stunning piece of kit, replaced a 2001FP.

i did "have" to upgrade to a c2d/8800gts machine just because i wanted to run at 1920x1200 though.
#10
question ... how long before Quidco earning should show up ?

I registed .. then clicked on the 4.5% DEll link - which took me to Dell .. then did the Dell order ... should anything show up on Quidco now - or does it take a while ?

thanks, Mark.

Its not a problem cause if they send an A02 or 03 you just reject it and ask for another under dsr. I think all the older revisions went out to resellers anyway.
Cant wait ;-)

why are you doing this ....... until half an hour ago I was happy carefree bunny...look at me now...desire is strong with this one...

Fair enough but you are liable for return carriage under DSR if you do get an older revision (though dell often waive the collection fee anyway).
I'd go for it but I'm torn between the magasine spec 9200 you posted and this. Can't quite afford both, and £360 to change from 22" to 24" as an upgrade is just silly. Could of course sell the 22" but I'd see cash flow problems for a few weeks! Somebody shoot me / hide my mastercard.

You would of course tell Dell it was faulty when returning it:giggle:

2 side by side on my desk would look nice wouldnt it? ;-)
#17
Nah better going with not 'fit for purpose'. They'll immediately offer you some cashback anyway as a "goodwill gesture". Oft 10%.

If you'v got an 8 or 9 foot wide desk? and no printer/ tower on it :P
[mod]#19
Yep just measured it, 2 will fit....3yrs warranty on these too NBD.
#20
I got one of these a couple of months ago from MCS and it is a fairly epic piece of kit. Running it at its native resolution of 1920x1200 in 32-bit colour means that a fairly capable graphics card will be needed. Having said that I'm running 2 x NVIDIA GeForce 8800GTS 640Mb as an SLI pair which on MS Flight Sim X is a thing of beauty and a joy forever.

Another one is tempting, the footprint isn't all that big...

Like this ;-)

The problem with these is very simple. It is pretty well impossible to go back once you have converted. It's like broadband, you would never willingly revert to a slower connection. Even having just the one Dell 24" I feel strangely cheated when I am confronted with anything less. Two would be madness...

I actually spotted this deal myself at about 4:30am this morning (but added heat anyway). This is an absolutely spectacular (one-day only?) deal... This monitor was selling for £570 yesterday and I very nearly bought one. A £170 price reduction was way too tempting.... with Quidco this comes to under £400

Here's a quick price summary that I've posted a few times whenever this monitor comes up for sale on HotUKDeals:

26-June-2006: £824.85
03-Aug-2006: £619.00
11-Sept-2006: £754.35
29-Sept-2006: £566.64
22-Nov-2006: £754.35
04-Dec-2006: £566.64
18-Dec-2006: £529.10
31-Dec-2006: £716.81
11-Jan-2007: £754.35
04-Feb-2007: £566.64
01-Mar-2007: £759.05
28-Mar-2007: £571.34
03-Apr-2007: £407.22

Can this be used as a TV?
#25
thanks mike for the direction.

i've seen expired (yesterday's easter countdown) deal of 20 inch flat panel for £172, just tried my luck calling them.

Result! got it without much issues and pleased with talking to very polite Customer service girl

Edit: i've no more space to accomodate another 24 inch screen :(
#26
^ you'd need an LCD tv box to connect an aerial to it.

How much are these mate?
#29
Good deal but I'm hoping for a 27 or 30" deal as you can never have a big enough screen.

Oh Mike! You are Beezlebub! Have you bought one!?

It's making me feel my 22" Viewsonic is not enough...
#31
Ive been buying Dell products for the last 4 years but will not be doing so from now on. The products are now just cheap, tacky and under-specified. For e.g. Large monitors may be much cheaper than, say, apple monitors but there are many underlying resolution etc limits which customers are not aware of and thats where Dell make their money.

Also their customer service is now just not what it used to be. The customer is not valued at all I feel, where as before they would bend over backwards to help you out.

I hope this post is not deleted or modified as I am just voicing my opinion and letting others be aware of potential problems they could go through.

Cyrus we would not delete or modify someone's opinion on a retailer!

Yes Emma I could resist no longer, go on treat yourself, you know you want to at £391 after quidco how can you resist:p

I notice that Samsung's 226BW is 'HD-Ready' and reading on the net, this is different to just using HDCP.

Does anyone know if the Dell is 'HD-Ready'?

Cheers,
Matt.

I'm very tempted by this I have to admit.

Must resist!!!

Mike - was that with the normal, standard postage?

Stocks of monitors dont come from Dell Ireland, they are held in Coventry, so when an order comes through that doesnt involve a desktop shipping from Dell as well they can just send direct from Coventry via a carrier on 24hr delivery.

Speaking as someone who isn't the most tech-savvy in the world, how can I find out if my existing graphics card can support 1900 x 1200? It's a Radeon X600 256MB Hypermemory?
