I need a laptop for work that I can use at home and abroad.

Internet surfing and handling large spreadsheets and word documents (just realised how dull I am?!?! Anyway...). So I assume this would be good enough for me?

Oh... and Championship Manager! :)

Vista Home Premium is better for home as it has better muti-media capabilities etc
"Basic" will do the job but is less "pretty" :)

this is the thing, I always find myself disabling some of the prettyness in the OS because it slows these laptops down something rotten. Basic is fine and dandy lol.

True - I'd look to up the RAM in this to 4GB which would help a lot...but up the price of course.....:?

wouldnt advice for them games due to having intergrated graphics, mite play css in low fps but would for sure play it if you put a fps config on.

As for COD4 & 5 I would go for a laptop with atleast a 3470 card or better, as I doubt COD would be playable !

What would the Dual Core intel CPU be equivilent to in the core two batches?
#20
Two different types of processor entirely. There is no equivalent.

I wouldn't buy any laptop nowadays without a Core2Duo CPU, especially to try to run Vista...

Oh, and to the person who suggests 4Gb of RAM, it won't all be used on a 32bit OS [takes 64bit] though it will be more than 3Gb in most cases. Can't reemeber what this one has, but again, a minimum of 2Gb recommended for Vista.

HTH :)
suspended#21
only 3.25gb would be used by a 32bit O.S so 4gb would be a waste, which is why alot of laptops now ship with 3gb.

Anyone know how to search the Outlet to show only 1525s with the WXGA+ 1440 x 900 screen? I like the look of the 1525, but not the lower WXGA resolution...

The CPU is essentially a t7400 with 1MB of L2 cache rather than 4MB. Fine for office tasks, web browsing etc, not so attractive for gaming or lots of video encoding etc.

Look at http://www.cpu-world.com/sspec/SL/SLB3P.html and

Did you just add that to a cart now? Cant see the £55 thing
#25
Add it to your basket, then you get a tick box to add the discount on the basket screen.

The price on the outlet page is £343.11. There are still 3 with that spec there at the moment. The price on the first page is without VAT. There are some cracking deals on there if you're prepared to keep an eye on the site. I've bought 2 laptops from them for under £350 in the past couple of weeks with better specs than the one I quoted. I just used that one as an example.

Good find mike but does it have HDMI port it has a slightly older CPU too I prefer Core 2 Duo but still hot

I have the pink one - got it for nearly 500 last april. It's great, love the pink and had no probs with it. Only thing is I have to have a hair band around the charger as it gets disconnected easily. I play all sorts on here from shockwaves and playandwin websites aswel as games installed such as sims2.

This Pentium Dual Core T3400 is a brand new CPU. When Intel introduced the new line of Core 2 Duo's, the T3xxx are the new line of Pentium Dual Cores that go with them.

The Pentium Dual Core series is the same as a Core 2 Duo, except, with half the cache and depending on the exact model a slower FSB. It is essentially a "budget" version of the Core 2 Duo with very little difference. The Pentium Dual Core should NOT be confused with the Pentium D, which is old, horrible and dead :)

It is the same architecture etc... and the only time you generally notice the difference between a Core 2 Duo at 2Ghz and a Pentium Dual Core at 2Ghz (in real world and not benchmarks) are games or other highly demanding tasks. For office/browsing you will never see the difference.

As such, buy in confidence!
#37
can you buy extra chargers for it too?

im having a pink one waheymy bf wants a silver one do they have it in silver too
#38
one alternative could always be this,
Asus X50RL Core 2 Duo T5750 (2.0 GHz), 160GB HDD, 2GB RAM, 15.4" TFT WXGA,
its free delivery and Asus in my opinion is a better make than dell. However its not half as sexc as the Colour of the Red one....
So its pay like £10 more for better spec and lost on looks or go for looks and save urself a £10 :p

Decent price that and sexy colour:oops:
