A good one but this colour model has no inbuilt webcam! :(

Nice one!

They have a few others with less memory (3Gb) and slightly smaller hard disk (320Gb) for £295 which is a decent deal.

This 15.6" WLED widescreen laptop is designed to excel at everyday tasks and features a 320GB hard drive with 3GB memory.

Another typo?

voted hot because of the price, but I would not buy Inspiron 1545 again.I had two with T4200, got rid of them quickly.Poor assembly , piano finish (looks good but is easy to scratch and catch fingerprints) keyboard comfy but over flexible, rubbish touch pad and rather noisy.

Screen is a standard CCFL , NOT WLED (very decent, though),

Aye I know what it is but what I'm saying is that in the models posted above it says WLED in the description but LCD in the specs.

Thanks burndogg, they have some really great offers on laptops atm 8)

hd-dvd compatible lol
#12
Anything decent with at least a core 2 duo?
#13
Why couldn't they do these prices before xmas, when I was buying one for my daughters xmas present.
#14
Does anyone know what sort of games this would manage to handle and could it run packages like Photoshop smoothly enough?
#15
Not bad, but some vital stuff missing for me, no N class Wifi, no HDMI port and no HD graphics chip.

It's still LCD, WLED just indicates the backlight type.

Exactly - shelves were full of these just before Christmas and still now. It did not take much thought on my part to think this was going to end badly. Folks who realise what has happened will not be too pleased with Tesco.

Unfortunately the comon punter knows little about the true value of consumer technology - unless you spend hours trawling web sites. But even before Christmas it was possible to obtain core i3 Dell laptops with similar HDD and Ram with HDMI and the latest integrated Intel HD for much less than the £449 prices Tesco were charging.

It's just the backlight that is LED instead of CCFL.

Very tempted but I want an inbuilt webcam and don't like the other colours.

Going to be a bit repetitive here as with the other threads relating to the Tesco 20% off and Dell laptops. Like grumpyone I have purchased from the Dell Outlet site. If you are patient and get your timing right you can pick up much better deals than this on the newer Inspiron N5010's.

With new stock usually added to the inventory between 3.00 and 3.30 p.m. you can pick up i3 or i5 processor based N5010's for around £340 to £380. I have an i5 with 4gb ram, 320 gb hdd, dedicated ATI Radeon 1gb HD5470 graphics card, bluetooth, 1.3mp webcam for £367 delieverd.

The laptop is 100% 'as new' and is a reasonably well reviewed. They are a much more attractive laptop than the 1545 and better built by the sound of it.

Which graphics chip is better.....? Intel Integrated GMA 4500 MHD vs ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4330 (512MB). Thanks in advance if anyone can answer this question. It's greatly appreciated.

The ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4330 as it has dedicated memory not shared memory like the built in one.

Therefore when watching video, doing things like video/ photo editing and playing basic games the whole experience will be a lot smoother.

Thanks very much for that info RogueViper101 , I'm considering getting a dell inspiron 1545 and there was 2 slightly differing models regarding the graphics and thats why I needed to know.

No Bluetooth, CPU scores (for comparison to other deals I've posted Passmarks on):
Pentium Dual-Core T4500 @ 2.30GHz Passmark 1,568.

I think there are better deals around - not voted either way, info only

Just ordered with the ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4330 (512MB) graphics.
#30
tempted but, i hate DELL and HP, their quality has been drastically degraded
#31
I've only just noticed that aswell as getting the specs all wrong half the time, Tesco have used images of the much nicer and latesrt model - the N5010/15R on the Pacific Blue one http://direct.tesco.com/q/R.210-8264.aspx ...

Every Little helps ...

Just bought one myself, if you pick up the Laptop locally you avoid the £5 charge.

1st purchase for it LoJack, even at that price can't afford to lose the laptop and my client data/music.

This iswell worth purchasing, although tesco's dont sell it the advertise it?!?! try here: LoJack Student deal

I used that option, as it was the only one that gave free delivery. Not too bad though as I only ordered this afternoon and I've been informed that it will be at my local store for pick-up from Friday 28th Jan after 4.00pm. They had the model listed above in my local store, but I wanted the same laptop with ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4330 (512MB) graphics. Thanks for making people aware of the saving Harpo_8

Just to make some people aware, although it says it's 512mb Graphics....it's actually sharing system memory to provide this, and isn't dedicated.

The graphics card breaks the deal for me, apart from that this is a great deal.
