Awesome deal on this fully kitted out 11" netbook

fully kitted out, in store only, i went in to buy a Toshiba nb200, but for extra 50 quid they had loads of these!

retail with the 250gb HDD at £399, great machine and with 2gb ram, runs windows 7 brilliantly.

in store only, can't find the deal on-line, york monks cross had a few though. the guy said it wasn't store specific.

I just bought a 15.6 " Inspiron with 250 HD and 3GB Memory direct from Dell for £329 delivery.

If your looking for a net book then cool, but a full sized fully loaded Laptop for £30 more??

I know which deal I'm happier with.

Oh, I got 4% Quidco with mine also.
#2
This is a cheaper netbook, although spec is lower...http://www.hotukdeals.com/item/606639/toshiba-nb200-11h-for-218-delivered

No integrated webcam on your deal woukd be a downer for most - or add another £30 to include one!

Netbooks are popular for a reason and to suggest spending another £30 for a fully loaded laptoip is a touch irrelevant and misleading.

Plus - you'll get a comfortable 5 hours out of the 6-cell 11z. The puny Inspron 1545 4-cell battery may last 3 hours if you are very lucky.
#4
what kinda graphics chip does it use?
#5
which store is this available in please?
#6
And what processor does it use? if its ur bog standard 1.6/1.66 Atom then for £300 its garbage.
#7
Processor is a Intel® Pentium® Dual Core Processor ULV SU4100 (1.30GHz, 2MB, 800MHz)
This is faster than the Atom (despite a lower GHz rating).

I take your point, to a point. But £30 fro an extra Gig of RAM and a 2.2Mhz processor is far from irrelevant. As for the Web cam, I'm not a pervert so I wasn't really looking for one :p

gpu? No idea, now you've caught me out, no idea what one is.

The 2.2 dual core btw is on the Inspiron Laptop, not the 11z netbook. No idea what the processor is on that.

Just checked (something you could have done btw!) It has a Celeron 723, whatever one of them is, but Dell seem to like it so might be good.

OH< AND WHILE I'M AT IT (smug grin on) The 11z doesn't have a bloody perv cam either!! How's that for Irrelevance Mr Grumpyone????

I bought this laptop from CPW at the weekend for my daughter. She really likes it, the mousepad is like the iphone whereby you pinch it to enlarge the screen.

I think you'll find the processor is a Celleron though and not a Pentium.

It also has a 1.3 webcam
#12
Two people have claimed the CPU types as follows:

Intel® Pentium® Dual Core Processor ULV SU4100 (1.30GHz, 2MB, 800MHz)

and:

Celeron 723 (single core)

Can someone who has seen (or bought) the instore version please confirm which CPU it has.

I will definitely be buying if its the dual core, but not interested in the single core.

All Dell Inspron 11z's have a 1.3 Mbit integrated web camera, I'm not aware of any models without - care to elaborate or offer some grain of proof?

Enjoy your fully loaded laptop with it's single core Celeron processor ...

Intel® Celeron® Processor 900 (1M Cache, 2.20 GHz, 800 MHz FSB)

# of Cores 1
# of Threads 1
Processor Base Frequency 2.2 GHz
L2 Cache 1 MB
FSB Speed 800 MHz

My friend you have a lot to learn - I suggest you start with some humility!

The Inspron 11z has a choice pf CPU's ...

Intel® Pentium® Dual Core Processor ULV SU4100 (1.30GHz, 2MB, 800Mhz) or
Intel® Celeron® Single Core ULV Processor 743 (1.3GHz, 1MB, 800MHz)

You may be lucky and get the Dual Core one - someone needs to check!

The graphics is the same as all other standard netbooks i.e the Intel GMA950.

Hmmm, yeah excellent bargain if it is the dual core, but not so great for the celeron.

By the looks of it (the Dell site) the 250gb hard drive version comes with the dual core.
You can buy the ingle core and upgrade the hard drive, but that's an optional extra, not the sort of thing that I would imagine that they would be shipping out...

I'm still struggling to figure out how good a dual core processor would perform in comparisson to the atom processors.
I have software that has minimum specificatons to run (say 1.6 ghz processor minimum). Obviously the dual is two 1.3ghz cores, but does that necessarily equate to 2.6 combined?

Review here:, apparently the CPW version has the weaker celeron cpu and the review suggests it may be a bit sluggish

http://www.pcadvisor.co.uk/reviews/index.cfm?reviewid=3205523

Id get a HP mini 311 to be honest, it has the ION chipset which helps a lot with gaming/video encoding/flash playback plus it has DDR3 ram and a larger 6 cell battery

Its dualcore so itll be better at/for multitasking. Otherwise go cheaper and get an atom 1.6/1.66
#17
if that's a single core celeron 743 I wouldnt buy it - I have nothing against celerons but this one is sluggish (although atom is even worse).su4100 is almost twice as fast

Go here for comparison:

http://www.notebookcheck.net/Mobile-Processors-Benchmarklist.2436.0.html

Just search [CNTRL + F in internet explorer] and then at the top press Restrict...
Can use the same site for GPU benckmarks by going to the FAQ section on the left menu and GPU benchmarks...

I don't see how paying laptop money for a notebook can be a good deal. If you want a notebook, surely £150-200 is the mark.
#21
if its dual core ulv it should be hot, cant vote either way til this is found out

Doesn't hurt to bridge the gap? netbook where you can watch HD videos?
#22
Just went and checked if it was celeron or pentium... the display model was unfortunately celeron
#23
it has celeron 1.3, it runs super smooth tho, with windows 7 its awesome, battery has lasted over 6 hours today, stil says 25% remaining, runs multiple programs well too, hardly suitable for gaming, but ultra mobile and a screen you can actually type on and read!
#24
p.s it does have a webcam!

Windows 7 "starter" for Netbooks is getting a LOT of thumbs down

Hi all. Looking for a netbook to replace my sluggish old laptop as i pretty much only stream tv (iplayer etc) and go on the net. Just wondering if anyone knows how this netbook compares to the Samsung N140 which CPW has on offer last week?? I have tried reviews but netbook reviews are a minefield which seem to offer no frontrunner!! Sorry for the generic "help" post i know you get alot of them!!
#29
So where's this deal ?
A more direct link is needed than the vague homepage one given
Theres no link to any Windows 7 powered Dells

A question not related to the post:

Does anyone have expereince buying from MESH, they have the system I want, at a price I agree with, and yet there's a lot of negative posts about them.

Failing that, does has anyone ordered from Devil Tech (German)?
#32
Picked one of these up from the dell Outlet last week, with the pentium dual core, bluetooth, 6 cell batt and n wiFi card...£274 delivered....stands back to be blasted with "refurbs" "refurbs"...more than likely a CPW canceled order...they have some on there now basic celeron for £258.50 del
#33
Sounds interesting, will have a look in my local CPW this weekend, after a new computer.

MESH: Good systems but woe betide you if you have any problems with them, my brother launched a small claims suit against them to get them to sort his top of the line machine out, and they ended up replacing everything but the part that was wrong, expect late missed collections/delivery too.

I would look elsewhere frankly, but can't help with Devil tech

Really not selling it to me there! :)

Going to try the Devil Tech then, I presume I'll just need a European adaptor, but everything else should work :s

I'm still waiting for the ASUS 1201n to be released, but this is a pretty good price as far as dell goes. Hot from me
#37
its home premium not starter!
#38
I bought this on Sunday, possibly would have gone for the Dell Outlet but I think the cheaper version is a 3 cell battery and Windows Vista

It's a very nice laptop and for surfing and word processing it's very good.

Screen's great and plays iplayer really well

Jesus aren't you touchy?

I was only kidding with you, that said, I've no idea what specs you have listed, it ain't my laptop. That said, nice to know I got so far under your skin that you actually bothered to look it all up and it isn't even your post :whistling:

Can I just throw another alternative into the ring...

This one's £50 more expensive: £350 from Play, but is a very light laptop, rather than a netbook.
Long battery life, light to carry around, and a 15" good-resolution screen:

Worth buying, if you don't mind using Vista. ;-)
