Thinking about and saw this after buying a 'gaming laptop' second hand only to find it won't play the one game (Ark survival evolved) I bought it for (well it does but less than Megadrive graphics). Before you hate I checked with a site to see if it would play and it said yes.

Description as follows :

Enjoy gaming on the go with Dell's Inspiron 15 laptop. Specially built with a dedicated NVIDIA® GeForce® graphics card to deliver life-like visuals and a powerful 6th-Generation Intel® Core™ i5 processor to ensure you can be lightning fast when the pressure is on.

Powerful processor

The i5-6300HQ processor can handle whatever you throw at it, allowing you to multi-task, enjoy gaming and work on intensive projects without experiencing any lag. Applications run faster and more efficiently than before, so everything you normally do on a laptop like send email, write reports, create presentations, touch up photos, edit home movies and all the little and big tasks in between can be done even quicker. The processors also feature a 'Turbo Boost' that will unleash more power when you need it, so you can handle more programs and intensive tasks without your laptop slowing down.

Incredible visuals

NVIDIA's GeForce GTX 960M graphics card with 4GB of dedicated memory works to deliver stunning graphics without lag, so you can fully enjoy movies and video games. The GTX features a range of impressive technologies like GameWorks technologies for fluid, life-like visuals and GeForce Experience for quick gaming optimisation.

Keeping it cool

Dell have added a revolutionary cooling system at the rear of the Inspiron 15 to ensure it does not overheat during extensive gaming sessions. Within the large vents there are oversized cooling fans to rapidly extract the heat from the core of the machine without creating excessive noise.

Software included:

McAfee® Live Safe 30-day trial

Microsoft® Office 30-day trial

Full specs on link. 3yrs warranty.

Any of these I will update ram to 16gb or more if possible. Anyone know if it's one or two years warranty with Currys?

Thoughts and advice would be appreciated.

Unlike the people who have just downvoted for the sake of it (I haven't voted at all BTW), I will say that you need to see the machine in the flesh before buying. Some of the screens currently used by Dell really aren't that good; or, look OK under shop lighting but are mediocre in normal use. This is based on lots of feedback and personal experience when I was looking to get a new one myself. The 1600x900 screen used on 17" Dell's were surprisingly bad for instance.

Thanks will do but the ones from JL I can take back without quibbles if I find screen pants after use. I suspect Currys will also. Anyone thoughts on which is best / investment (the link item or others I've mentioned in description).

it's not a bad deal but the 960 is outdated. im thinking of getting the one with the 7th generation i5 and the 1050ti

Link? How much?

I would seriously consider dell outlet. I purchased an i7, 4k screen, 1050 ti for 825 from them. 1 year warranty. like new. always used them over the years.

Here

Sometimes there is 15% voucher that comes up. If you can be bothered you could get an NUS card and then speak to customer services to get 15% discount off the outlet as a student

These have horrible TN screens. No idea why Dell have not fitted an IPS panel like the US to these. It's a shame as the rest of the machine is pretty good.

How about the hp omen, also from John Lewis website, pretty similar specs but with the 1050 GPU. £799

the newer i5, 1050, 256 SSD, and 8GB ram is only 799 at Dell.

Link for the Omen?

Will checkout Dell link.

Omen @ JL is a i5. Only 2GB on the 1050 on the 960M 4GB and no SDD compared to this.

I'm swaying towards this (one I posted) or the £749 i7 at Currys I posted link in description.

How long is warranty with Currys (JL 3yrs).

This is link for Currys one

Can just buy 8GB more ram for 30 quid and maybe add a solid state hard drive after.

I need to know warranty with Currys and how much is that NUS / student discount with Dell? I only want this to play Ark Survival evolved without probs on Med or High settings and general other pc stuff and some basic video editing from time to time. I'm thinking Currys / JL more because can see before buy and easier to return and longer warranties (JL 3yrs & have a feeling Currys 1 or 2yrs). Dell only gives one and it's a refurb.
#16
Sorry missed 15% for NUS / student.
#17
Read something that said Currys do a NUS / student discount aswell at certain times.
#18
Do they? Anyone? Or do JL?
#20
Exactly same as one I bought and got 2 years warranty.

Didn't have Red keyboard tho like in pictures )-;
